Unsure if this more presumptuous or erroneous...
If anything, you have more opportunities for talent that may have been overlooked to arise in small (capable) studios.
That's not to say that every small studio is on-point and knowledgeable, but your broad generalization is way off the mark.

I do agree with your general take that—if I'm reading your stars 'n gold bit correctly—the current wash of mediocrity doesn't allow for the best and brightest to take front stage, just those with the most money behind them, money pushing studio-created "artists."

A reoccurring brain-failure that I see falling out people's mouths almost constantly now is this ridiculous notion that everyone's music is of equal worth—it's not. Some music is objectively bad, poorly put together, nothing behind it as far as creativity or emotion, a product of someone who doesn't appreciate the art enough to put actual effort into it. This doesn't mean that everyone shouldn't make music, or play music, or that all (or, at least most,) music that's realized enough will connect with at least *some people, but to pretend quality is a subjective thing is more of that "everyone gets a trophy" bullshit that breeds mediocrity.

    ... not seeing the pseudoscience.
Here you go. You're welcome. :shalom:

Only logged in to like this post. All thanks for that, clone! You are completely right.

All this foster posts are about jealousy and grudge, now about the younger generations, because his previous themes didn't work. He must be a really bitter person.

    And all this

But also I'm a little sad that many posters here have such a low meaning about younger generations like me .-.

Nah, the kids are alright. It's just us older fucks who've gotten cranky.

Reminds me of Losing My Edge by LCD Soundsystem, truly an anthem of getting becoming an old music nerd and watching the trends come and go, reminiscing about the good old days.

    Yeah, I'm losing my edge
    I'm losing my edge
The kids are coming up from behind
    I'm losing my edge
I'm losing my edge to the kids from France and from London
    But I was there

    [...]

    But I'm losing my edge
    To better-looking people
With better ideas and more talent
And they're actually really, really nice

...and here's me getting the feels from a 20 year old tune... still a banger though.

That’s why, if you can’t find anything interesting or innovative today, it’s probably on you. No one’s forcing you to love the times we’re in, just like plenty of people disliked disco in the '70s or hard rock in the '80s. But supporting this "boomerism" mindset in this thread doesn’t make much sense to me. It’s like claiming you can’t find sand in the desert. With all the music in the world at your fingertips, choosing not to engage with anything current is just that: a choice. And you’ve got to ask: why would someone who supposedly loves music choose that?

...pseudosc :) !humanities! Perhaps the current era is heading in a selfish direction. By that, I don't just mean the negative aspects, but the unprecedented freedom to express oneself as an individual, no matter what artistic endeavor. Everyone has the tools, i think or be more sure we're the richest, healthiest era and generation that's ever existed. EVERYONE can do what they want, and without sounding Kafkaesque, that's perhaps the reason why people only rave about those golden years\era's\Decades - but never from the Past\Future experience them. It's similar to television, which thought they could satisfy people for 800 years with the Three Stooges, haha. So the coming ERA will probably reverse engineer all of this, to the point where God, after the monkey, really doesn't want any more experiments (Paulo Coelho then sits next to him and says: "GOD..." <- You can complete that! a tiny gift hrhr). And if things turn out differently, the next era might be called "Neo-Realistic Narcissism in the guise of decadent existence from the past but not..."?! Anyway, I would like to support MY contribution to what I am expressing here with the following two examples here:

    1st : https://hearthis.at/tr4c3r/about-me-rank-aka-tracer/
    2nd:

    All just kidding, if allowed...
and serious? I'm over 50 and didn't actually experience a GOLDEN AGE. At most, I've heard romantic (justified!) stories about it and seen it in documentaries, but in reality, I've only experienced a grotesque (compared to the original) mashup/remix copy (sometimes unintentionally LOL, since I worked very late at night in rough areas). In this sense:

    PEACE, the main thing

    Ridiculous.

'Taste', is a preference, not an opinion.

You gave an assured, albeit, unconvincing opinion, delivered in such a way as to be da gospel truth, I revealed another opinion that is the exact opposite of your opinion, only one of them can be right. Right?

It stands to reason that, anyone who worships at, say, the Beato alter of ignorance, well, their opinionated views on current music trends are pretty irrelevant eh, fatally flawed even, pointless, worthless in fact.

Therefore my educated guess would be to favour the 'opposite' DJ, cos he's actually workin in da bizness.

The '90's' barb opinion was very helpful, taught me a lot about my music, as do the hundreds of DJ returns, but i have an open mind, i'm not set in my ways, how about you eh.

Thread's not about my music, lets leave it at that eh.

Hmm, it seems to me you don't think so eh.

Well, may i humbly suggest we are both free, right or wrong, to think wot we bloody well like, but please also remember i can't be both, wich is it?
Proffer some evidence to support your thinking.

Er, Mmm, means nice, you meant hmmm, mind you, i'm no expert on gramma.

Whether we are living in the golden age of music depends on perspective. Today, there is unprecedented diversity and access to music through streaming platforms, independent artists and global networking. Technological advances are enabling creative productions that were once unthinkable. At the same time, some criticize that commercial trends and algorithms could limit originality.

Compared to earlier “golden ages” such as the 1960s/70s (rock, pop) or the heyday of classical music (18th/19th century), today's era is characterized less by single dominant genres and more by fragmentation and individualization. There is no objective answer - for many it is golden because they find exactly the music that appeals to them.

    I'm not a boomer, just a X-Gen.
See, I update regularly following charts since I was a child and since I got internet Billboard (beside YT it's the only source tells me about music global trend), I always find something interesting until... let's say the last 7-8 years, really, mediocrity is king.

I listen to Billboard 100 and I can't really find a "WOW!!!" track, in best case just a "uh" or more often "meh" tracks, don't ask me to name them, I don't want to go into useless discussions and drags with fanboys.

How many "Queen", "M.J." are today to be remembered after half a century+ ?

There are for sure talents, but who knows, they're probably buried in a overcrowded and overbloated internet where frenzy musical consumption doesn't allow to appreciate nuances, if any of course, and forces the masses to follow the mainstream production.
"With all the music in the world at your fingertips"
That's one of the main problem.
    Example.
When it came out Star Wars (like many other movies) in 1977, it resonated for many years, now with NF and the like I can't even choose what to see, and at times I don't even remember if I saw them already.
We lost the ability to appreciate a product, you subscribe to Spotify and get all the human production, it's too much for a mortal being.

Now compares nowadays billboard, then go let's say in middle 80 and choose one randomly.
How many tracks do you recognize from the oldies chart that you would willingly whistle or sing along?
    Today instead?

And, another thing: even the surviving "old bands" that stubbornly (and at times a bit hilariously) still grasp to get new audiences, are acclaimed for their past songs, not (if any) new.

BTW I'm not a fanboy of any band of artist, but I terribly enjoy listening if I like them.
And today I can't find any terribly enjoying song.

The people who write here use the internet, SoundCloud, and YouTube. You can post links in the forum, SoundCloud music and YouTube videos, and put them up for discussion.

The internet, or World Wide Web, offers anyone with an internet connection the opportunity to access stored knowledge and music. Everyone can participate, upload something, and join in the discussion. Anyone can also sell something or offer it for free, worldwide, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Before the invention of the internet, there were radio stations with music journalists, record stores, and, of course, record labels.
This system sorted out the junk beforehand; they only received music that could be sold.

So, this system still exists, but anyone can publish their music. What does it even mean for society and the individual that anyone can publish their music? You hear and read how bad the bands and individual musicians are. Where is the quality? Where are the new stars with quality, voices, and captivating, appealing songs?

They still exist, but how do I find them? Is it even possible to make music against the masses of competitors and earn enough money to live off it? We would have to fight for it with all our intelligence and join forces, but that's not happening. The big financiers have long since taken over the market, and the small artist can see where they end up.

As you can see, we are so poorly organized, and the individualization – everyone for themselves and alone in front of their PC at home – doesn't allow any movement, union, or association to emerge to improve and enforce their rights and opportunities.

In short, we have too little money, too little power, and absolutely no plan for how to create a system that serves our interests.
When a talented musician or filmmaker creates a product in the form of a record, CD, MP3, or film, it is made available to our generation and all future generations. I call that cultural heritage. Anyone can find information about it using search engines and buy it, rent it, or sometimes use it illegally.

In principle, I have no shortage of music, samples, plugins, radio stations, fanzines, films, books, concerts; we've already created an infinite amount of creative work. Now it's a matter of organizing, cataloging, commenting, and making it available to the masses. We must also ensure that what we've created so far is adequately protected against deletion and loss.

In concluding my thoughts, I would like to reiterate that it's up to all of us how we deal with the overwhelming, almost unmanageable mass of information in the future. We must adapt, learn, and understand, and develop new concepts for ourselves and everyone else about how we want to live in the future.

Complaining about how beautiful everything was back then—not everything was great, and much of it was a matter of money—and constantly blaming the youth for being too stupid and unqualified isn't a solution to the problem. Young people are faced with a huge dilemma.

They grew up with vast amounts of data and opportunities, and they, too, will have to develop methods for dealing with the internet. So learn and read about what the internet is, what dangers and opportunities it offers, and how to use them.

No it doesn't nor does the opposite of going anti any generation either, because both have nothing to do with any music being good or bad or what the current age is. Theoretically, this is unless the person making the comment is the most recent generation to say what this age of music is - Generation Alpha - which nobody on this thread is.

Yet you must realize that "POOP" spelled backwards is still "POOP" unchanged either spelling. I'm sure there are many other words that spell the same forwards or backwards.

First off, let’s get one thing straight, I didn’t call you or anyone a boomer. I don’t care about anyone’s age. I’m talking about a mindset. Maybe Eschatology or Doomerism would’ve been more accurate terms.

Secondly, I’m sure your experience is genuine, but why specifically 7 or 8 years ago? What changed so drastically then? That cut-off feels rather arbitrary. Can you explain it? Some of my favorite albums came out during that exact period.

Now, if you’re referring strictly to Billboard (if that’s where you’re looking for cultural relevance) that’s exactly what I was addressing in my first comment: the industry lost its laser focus. We all noticed it even tho some of us might not have figured out what's going on. But the root of that goes way back, shaped by trend shifts over the last two decades.

Predicting the future is already nearly impossible, but trying to forecast “the next MJ” without acknowledging how Billboard has lost its role as a real cultural thermometer? That’s not gonna work, will it? The framework (the whole societal context) that made icons like MJ possible simply doesn’t exist anymore.

Sorry to be blunt, but what you’re looking for is gone, at least for now. Not because culture is getting ‘worse’, but because, in my view, it’s getting bigger. Like a pig being mindlessly overfed, it just keeps growing, bloated, messy, harder to contain (ew). I do think that, eventually, the pig will burst, and we’ll slow down for a bit. But yeah, that sharp, laser-like focus that used to filter and align people’s tastes? That’s long gone. For some, that sucks. For others, it’s liberating.

I get what you’re feeling, that sense of loss, of searching for something familiar and no longer finding it. But I don’t think it’s about 'today's music being sheeeitttt!!!!'; it’s about how the entire cultural landscape has shifted. And yeah, it’s left a lot of people frustrated, even disoriented, haha.

Good music is still out there, tho. Like I said earlier, you don’t have to love the era we’re in, but don’t let that stop you from exploring new media, new passions, new scenes.

You do realize that "mmm mmm mmm mmm" spelt backwards is "mmm mmm mmm mmm", right?
    The implications are staggering.
@Strat4ever brought this mirroring to my attention with the example "poop".
I suspect the answers to all life's questions are buried somewhere in there.

And thanks for reintroducing that song into my life.
May you never step in dog poop.

    at least barefoot.
