    For Audio
Similarity https://www.similarityapp.com/is a freeware program that searches for duplicate music files. One of the best paid software for that purpose is EF Duplicate MP3 Finder https://www.efsoftware.com/d3/e.htm
    For pictures
There is free Awesome Duplicate Photo Finder https://www.duplicate-finder.com/photo.html. There is also Duplicate Photo Cleaner, but it's not free, along with some other paid programs.

I'm using the VersInfoEx Shell Extension since years.
It shows those infos exactly like on Windows 7 and it still runs perfectly on Windows 11.

I know there is a version option in Beyond Compare, but I never used, have a try.
Yes, there is (free) Find Image OK or 3delite Duplicate Picture Finder (pictures) and 3delite Duplicate MP4 Video & Audio Finder.
BTW, @tzzsmk , could you please remove that black box in avatar? I can't concentrate.

Nice, that is on my "TO-TRY" programs list.

Thank you also @pratyahara and @r4e (VIP guru member :beg:), those look neat utils too. The problem is finding one tool that can use that data in batches/folders.

There's (or was) a cmd tool called "FileVer" which was available at microsoft for download (but somehow it's not anymore).

    With the command:
    filever.exe Test.dll >Test.txt
it was possible to export the file version info into txt files.

I used this in an updater tool (which I wrote in batch) to get the most recent Image-Line plugin updates,
extract the vst dll's from the installers with 7z's command line tool and export their version info into txt files.

That worked pretty flawlessly. Can upload that tool if anyone is interested.

    ScreenShot_20240331172713.png

can search for files in MFT on any NTFS or FAT partition (FAT 12, 16, 32), including hard drives (internal and external), floppy drives, flash cards, SmartMedia (SM) , SONY memory cards, IBM microdrives, multimedia cards (MMC), secure digital cards (SD), Zip disks, etc. The search criteria can be seen on the screen, plus you can search with an editable script, copy files or their hash values to the clipboard, open them from the list and much more through the context menu by right-clicking on the file in the list of results.

Decided to dedup my MIDI drum pattern collection (~450k files then, ~390k now).

This command line program did the job flawlessly and in less than a minute. https://github.com/pkolaczk/fclones

It claims to be faster than its competitors.

    Re. FILE SEARCH?

Pls. recommend a light-weight tool for file searching across multi drives.
Must be able to pre-index all drives (MFT?) for fast results.

I use Everything, it's free and there is nothing faster I could find to use for 10s of TBs with millions of files even on local network storages:
    https://www.voidtools.com/

EDIT: if you don't need it in production environment, you can use the 1.5 alpha version of Everything, it has native Dark Mode and some nice features - https://www.voidtools.com/everything-1.5a/

    +1 to Everything.

For those that use Start11 by Stardock it also can be used in Start Menu search with Everything search syntax, no less.

So - on my Android phone, can it be set to watch certain folders of internal storage eg. Downloads, Photos, Documents?

Also - what happens if my PC goes to sleep - does Warpinator pause the connection, then reconnect on wakeup to resume transfers?
    - or need to reset / reconnect?

Windows Utilities for Optimizing Audio Production Systems
    ___________________________________________
above is a request to perplexity.ai and this is what it found for me:
1.Process Lasso - free version, already in use, but the result isn't impressive
    2.ParkControl
    3.Quick CPU
    4.AudioGridder
    others (2 - 4) I didn't try so far.
Another utility Process Explorer acts as Task manager, but finds 3 times more hidden processes

Windows default schedulers are generally are pretty good, but they are also generalists. They see 1.exe, they feed 1.exe. It doesn't know that you don't want 1.exe to be feed until 2.exe has done its chores. Most impactful, it can't tell any of the .exe just how you want the chores done.

You won't notice anything Process Lasso(or similiar) is actively doing in a typical environment. You will notice if: 1- You have the 'correct' hardware that 2- is able to be taken advantage of by certain programs designed with those particular hardware features in mind and 3- configure Process Lasso specifically for that purpose.

Even then, you still won't actively 'feel or see' any difference most of the time because windows approach is often already giving you upper % results for many tasks. It can't download ram. But it will help when you're pushing all cores to max for any sustained period in a program you have hardware features that can be taken advantage of and it's been configured to do so with PL (or similar). The biggie it does in resource allocation isn't so much winding down background processes it's that it will allow you to target specific cores to do specific tasks if condition whatever is met. Especially useful for unanticipated spikes. Your CPU isn't a utopia. Not all cores are equal. And the biggest advantage (in my opinion) when all these things align is in helping to mitigate fatal error conditions.

Also, OneCommander is a free Explorer alternative. Multiple panes, media preview (sample librarian.. or lets be real.. porn...its always porn) etc just a bunch of convenient stuff that does stuff to other stuff if that so declared stuff is also a file.
