Since my last inquiry about arpeggiator plugins was a success, I figured I’d ask what type of microphone is best for random sounds from practically anywhere, if there’s like a portable recorder with that type attached and would also work from my quiet kitchen to a music convention like superbooth, there are resonators waiting to be sampled and processed in my kitchen drawers but I desire a higher quality microphone than what might come with an iPhone or iPad

 

Well, before we go further, what's the budget, and do you think you'll be recording outside much vs. inside?

Oh, you know what, I didn't really even read the original post quite carefully enough. Notremid is right on, one of those recorders is probably exactly what you're looking for. They don't cost much and you can buy used and save even more.

 

The Zoom H1 essential looks promising, just not sure if it has the ability to connect to an instrument through a line input as well, and I do have more usb c cables lying around… it’d make a good Christmas gift with a pair of monitors

I can recommend Zoom H5. It has relatively decent mics and - what's even more important - rather decent preamps. It has also line inputs. And it can record both stereo mics and stereo line inputs at once.
