At least you don't need to download an installer and then download the plugin + bloat in order to redeem the fucking plugin, like you would with UAD (AKA You Are a Dummy).

 

You can only download it with the iZotope Product Portal, it seems. That's what Plugin Boutique offers me for download.
I too can't stand having to install some stupid and usually badly programmed software only to be able to download (free) plugin. I said long time ago when this madness started "imagine what would it look like if every plugin company had a software downloader." You would end up with gigabytes of unnecessary spyware shit on your computer that is used twice a year. And downloading plugins directly is more fun. Maybe have a separate computer for installing shit like that, or even better - a virtual os.

You also have to register an account with iZotope, of course, to be able to download it either directly from iZotope or with Product Portal. I have an iZotope account but it is locked for some reason... they say to contact the support but I can't find the contact link , they have something called Native ID now and you need to "unify the accounts" (?with NI account which I also have?)... blah. Maybe next month. I "bought" it on PB so I can download it whenever I want. The bigger the company the bigger the shit.

It's good stuff, though. It's worth the trouble when you find time and nerves to deal with it.

It does not need their manager application, at least on Mac. But this plugin is already installed when you install their bigger apps like Ozone, RX and so on. You do need to take 10 seconds to create an account linked to your spam email address. It's really no more involved than running a text patch in Terminal on an official installer.

You can also stick a copy into your Plugin Boutique account without downloading it at all.

Likely a ploy to figure out how many and which unlicensed iZotope products are installed on everyone's computers. Still a good deal.

 

It was a bit of trouble indeed, but I got through it - a trusted producer/mixer friend called me to rave about it, so I persisted and installed it.

The iZotope Product Portal will likely disable any unlicensed iZotope products you've already installed. Food for thought.

 

No problem here after installing it, but I had to go looking for it on the izotope website to try it. Tonal Balance 2 can be downloaded directly from izotope website.

It's not showing any more ability to do anything about already installed applications which do not communicate with it for their authorizations; which is along the same lines as NI, Arturia, IK, Korg, etc. Companies whose names do not sound like Acustica.
