It's better to fade out than burn away.

Punctuations have little to do with music. Punctuations are useful for writing, constructing sentences. These terms and punctuations were proposed by several theorists in the 20th century for some works of composers of a certain period, but later the vulnerability of these models for describing other works was revealed. Punctuation marks such as:
    ampersand
    apostrophe
    brace
    bracket
    bullet
    colon
    comma
    curly brackets
    dash
    ditto
    exclamation mark
    exclamation point
    full stop
    hyphen
    interrobang
    inverted comma
    parenthesis
    period
    question mark
    quotation mark
    scare quotes
    semicolon
    slash
    space
Music must be explained in the language of music, but unfortunately this language cannot be expressed in writing.

The fade out is not a choice, that’s a technique imposed by the medium: in the era of 7” the time on the vinyl was limited to 3 mins or so. If the song went on beyond that, you had to fade.
    Today, fade out is outdated

    This way:
    TA-DAAAAAA!!!!!
Seriously, every piece deserves its own closure.
I like unsettling ending, Gary Wright above is an example.
Or think of the 3° movement of Howard Hanson - Symphony N°2, it seems quietly ending, then then an abrupt "doubt", then again quiet.
    Love that.

Every piece of music is made up of many parts. Some have fewer parts, some have more. I said in one of my posts that I wish the problem was only in the final part. All parts of music should have a certain order and be in very precise relationship with each other. Creating precise order is a very complex task. Those who compose music must believe in this order, otherwise there will not be the necessary continuity between the different parts and the listener will be confused. In pop music, creating order is not a big concern. Because in the lower parts, the drums or a repetitive chord progression do this, and whatever the upper parts of the music are, they will come together because of the power that the lower parts have in creating order. Like a magnet under a paper, bringing together the pieces of the song. If this magnet moves away from the paper, the iron filings will no longer be able to align in a specific order and the song will fall apart. This is what is done in popular music. But in non-popular music, the creation of order is done by other forces, and the different parts of the music are joined together by other elements. The final part, which is supposed to be the musical conclusion, is also controlled by other forces.

I prefer to have a created ending, but there are times a fade out is needed.
