It feels like 8Dio is reaching its end.

No new products, No one likes Soundpaint, and ridiculous low prices:

And now this kind of clearance sale?

 

Yeah , it might be. I actually like Disco Strings, though. After a certain point, Spitfire, Orchestral Tools and even smaller companies started to overshadow them in terms of quality, popularity etc

 

8dio libraries are sometimes a way to complicated to work with. I think that broke their neck.

 

Some of their stuff was... not good... but some of their stuff is very cool indeed. I'll miss them (if they are actually going under). Certainly more than Spitfire...

 

Many sample companies are trying to push their own sample players and many are total arse. All because what NI is doing to Kontakt and is also not doing well, as we all know by now. I doubt it there will ever be Kontakt 9.

 

They´ve had these sales several times a year for the last many years so this isnt really news. I guess they keep low prices because they use the same script for nearly all their Kontakt libraries these days and keep expenses low that way.

I'm a no one and I really like Soundpaint ........there's a lot 'under the hood' as they say....and the libraries seem reasonably priced.

I get the impression 8Dio is concentrating more on Soundpaint as the future for the company so they are trying to get as much cash out of the previous Kontakt libraries as they become old in the tooth.

K7 got scaling. K8 got "Tools" which they haven't released the API for, nor have done anything with. Circular should have been a tool, IMO.

The Musio that advertises an utter lack of features as a condescending "Don't worry about knobs (features), stay close to the music"?

The Musio that doesn't work unless you connect to their servers at least once a month?

The Musio that'll stop working once the company goes out of business, because of their online-only approach?

The Musio whos software is still riddled with basic bugs and playback dropouts, even after years of development?

Where is your logic my man?

I mean, their libraries sound good, they are not bad. But everything else about that product/company is utter nonsense.

The only reason I even know about them is because their ads are such Elon Musk-Level nuclear cringe, that I had to look up who's behind them.

No sale. „Normal“ prices.

 

I feel the same way. I use Soundpaint. It is a much better host than Kontakt. It is easier to use, the prices are very reasonable, and it is setup with many synth parameters to experiment on. I find 8Dio in Kontakt to be a hassle many times. The Kontakt gui has very little change since the beginning, and I still have to change pages to get to many parameters. Soundpaint has everything on one page...very convenient. I search for online Soundpaint discounts and coupons. I have used 50% off on many Soundpaint purchases, which makes it even better. There are several freebies as well.

The very low cpu usage also makes it more appetizing. Yes, some of the products are worthless, but that happens with most developers.
