in my DAW I can hide in seconds all the waves plugins I dont need, mono or whatever

save space? well I have enough and really think space is a relative problem in 2025, I also put many plugins on a USB drive

it happens also that I need some plugins I had hidden so I just re-enable them in the DAW, or sometimes I receive sessions with waves plugins I have hidden and the daw recall em even if hidden

I know that it's possible deleting waves plugins manually, but I think it's more time consuming than hiding in seconds

    thats my 2c

I remember doing it by going in and finding the Waveshells, first deleting any Waveshells you don't even need. Then you could right click-> show package content, and delete them out of the Waveshell. Or you find the .Bundle file, again right click ->show contents and delete them from there.

It's "safer" to just go in the Logic Plugin Manager. sort by manufacturer, and uncheck all the ones you do not want. they won't be gone, but they will be gone from your menus. This is what I would usually do with all the Mono plugins, because every once in a while you might actually want to use one, and so in one click you can put them back.

The better way is to only install as few as you can from clean state. Use Waves Central to uninstall and reinstall the ones you want.

I have not done this in a long time, so take a look around at those few possibilities. Now I just use none of them anyway, which is even easier.

10gb+ Internal SSD space of a laptop isn't something you want consumed by something you know you will never use. Not such a big deal otherwise.

Unfortunately i cant hide plugins in ableton.

The problem with all of these methods, is you either have to delete all of a bundle or none of it. I just want to get rid of all of the mono, mono-stereo, live versions etc. Appreciate the help tho. Im going to keep poking around in waveshells, bundles etc in hopes i can find a folder that has the individual plugins.

thanks, unfortunately doesnt solve my issue. Appreciate the help tho.

Thanks - regrettably doesn't say how to remove all the mono versions and all other flavors that clutter the menu.

its pretty annoying of waves. "Here, heres 8 versions of your plugin, no you cant choose what you want to install, it must be ALL of them".

There doesn't seem to be a way - according to an old email from Waves Support.

I'm contemplating uninstalling the lot - I hardly ever use my couple dozen Waves (mostly the Abbey Road ones - the other dozen or so select others, I bought bc my a couple of my friends have them and sent me sessions or projects with them on).

I'm going to let the weekend pass, load up a few projects and see if I miss them. Probably best you do the same if they're a pita.

i would, but work with many collaborators that unfortunately use them. theres maybe 10 or so i would actually want to keep willingly. Some of the abbey roads ones are great for sure!

You can delete any plugin in the Waves folder together with any related data they might use. Restart, run AU registration utility.. and you are good to go! lol

yes - uninstall everything via waves central, reboot, and install only individual plugins you need,
then in your DAW - for ex. Reaper, you should be able to exclude plugins by keyword ("mono", "au" etc...)

Thanks for the thought, but its already been discussed here, this does not allow you to remove individual plugins. Only the entire bundle of a plugin, not the individual versions, such as mono versions etc.

Thank you, but waves central only allows install of an entire plugin suite, not individual versions, and unfortunately ableton does not allow hiding of individual plugins. I can create custom plugin groups, but not hide them.

On windows you can target the mono and stereo keys in the registry. I'd assume a similarish distinction is made in the property lists? Just remember to back them up before willy nilly deleting anything.

You can still narrow down the clutter with the selective install option. Some bundles do not contain all that much junk, when compared to others. That's how they were all sold "back in the day". Mercury Bundle, etc etc.

I am 100% sure that when I used V.R's Waves patch I selected only the plugins I needed via Waves Central app, last time it was in 2023 for sure. You should probably look for "how to install only the plugins I need" and not "how to delete what I dont need" to solve

After seeing what installing a handful of plugins from the Waves bundle did my DAW’s browser, I swore off of them. Another example of why it’s important to try before you buy.

It should be as simple as locating the waves plugin directory and deleting any packages that you wish gone from the system. Then just have the audio app(s) rescan plugins and you're done. That's the way it's done on PC anyway.

For Apple the waves plugin directory is thus; HD > Applications > Waves > Plug-Ins V15 (or whichever version is installed on your device, V15-V9)

The problem with Waves Central is that even though you tell it exactly what you want installed (by checking the boxen on the left), it just goes ahead and installs the entire fucking thing anyway. Waves Central is rather a waste of space in this regard...

It does not let you choose ONLY the stereo version of a plugin. It will install all versions.

I personally do not use them. Well very few at least. I do frequently get sessions from collaborators that have them in them tho.

You can delete the package / bundle, but not individual plugins. Within a .bundle there can be multiple versions of the same plugin. Abbey Roads Chambers for example has 3 plugins, mono, mono>stereo, and stereo.
