i have a Problem with Nexus 5 in Cubase, the Problem is that theres no Sound coming to Cubase from Nexus when the Plugin is not the focused Window .

Anybody with the same issues ?

Is Nexus5 the only thing being used in cubase that does this, or do other plugins/vst's give similar results? If there are other vst's exhibiting the same behavior you might check your audio driver settings in cubase and make certain the DAW is not locking the driver.

I completely uninstalled Nexus again today after the update with Revo uninstaller and reinstalled it clean...the problem still exists in cubase

 

You'd like to think Revo would find and remove everything for you to reinstall cleanly. That is usually the case, but nothing like an Uninstaller/Cleanup program is ever going to be 100% perfect every time. Even though it nearly is. You might want to look into manually cleaning up.

Also, did you already try to go back to an earlier version? The new version could have a bug from either Refx or even added on purpose. The new version is only a few days old. Do you have any other software from Refx installed?

The release driver setting in Cubase is typically only for when you minimize Cubase and go to another application, like your browser, media player, etc. It is not normally going to stop playing audio from your plugins when you minimize or close them inside Cubase.

 

Thank you, So nexus 4 works without problems, the problem also exists in maschine I have noticed, after a few seconds after I load Nexus in maschine maschine crashes ...something is wrong.
But the crashing doesn't always happen.
Everything else works.
I have not installed anything else from refx

Well, when I mentioned earlier versions of Nexus, I just meant the earlier releases from VR like 5.1.9. Did you have this problem then, or is it just 5.2.2?

If you are using VR's releases, it's worth mentioning that a developer can slip some new issues like yours into their new update version after looking at how the released copy was tampered with. There is already a small updated revision of the Mac version even, for unrelated things to your problem. The 5.2.2 version you are probably using is very new and only tested by a small amount of users for a short period of time.

Don't rule out it being a bug in Nexus and reinstall Cubase.

The problem exists since Nexus version 5 , no matter which update unfortunately...my Cubase is installed brand new, maybe two weeks old .

 

Nexus 5.1.9 working fine, tested in 3 different comps with Cubase 14. Haven't tried the newer one.

 

Which Cubase version are you running , and from which team ?

 

The strange part is this is the only plugin that it affects, right? Any sort of audio driver setting or background processing setting in Cubase would/should affect every synth plugin. Or at least the third-party ones. Did you already try switching to a different ASIO driver for testing purposes?

Have you tried changing ASIO Guard settings yet? That can be plugin specific apparently, if you want it to anyway.

Yes , I've tried different asio drivers and settings , I've tried asio guard on and off... nothing is working.
This is so weird .

Hi @BenniTheBlockbuster, did you try to click on the "Monitor Switch" button when Nexus window is out of focus? Nothing change?

Nexus also has no sound when I put a midi file into the track.
You can see that nexus is working, that it is triggered, but it seems that the sound information sent from nexus to Cubase is not accepted by Cubase.
Nexus seems to send sound out but Cubase somehow can't process it it seems

 

-so if you put a midi track playing Nexus is providing sound when the windows is focused but it doesnt work when the nexus windows is "in background" OR CLOSED?

-if you have nexus GUI focused then open another VSTi GUI it doesnt work, but when you close the second VSTi then Nexus get back working?

-did you try to tweak on/off the "always on top/background" setting? (right click on top of the GUI)

-is the ACTIVITY LED on the VSTi GUI always working even when the sound is not coming?

-did you try to load NExus in Bluecats patchwork in Cubase and also in Standalone? Try also in Waves Studioverse if you have it

-did you try to make a rendering of a track with Nexus in background or focused? Does Cubase print the audio file?

it's the only plugin with the issue, but the settings available to change in N5 are so minimal. Even if you look in all the N5 configuration files (.json) in a text editor, there isn't really anything that seems like would change its output behaviors.

Usually when you have a problem like this, and you have checked all the logical possibilities, it turns out to be something completely dumb, like some setting that shouldn't even affect anything normally. Example, some project file specific kind of thing. Maybe you can have someone make you a blank Cubase project file with N5 working in it on their end.

I had something like this when N4 was first released. N3 worked perfectly, but I had to jump through hoops to get N4 to see my Nexus library. Like the Mac version of editing registry keys.

 

Can you explain what you mean by "when the plugin is not the focused window"?
(maybe show screenshots or do a short video clip) to show us what you mean if possible.
I use Cubase 13/14 (all upto date versions) and had no problems that I know of with Nexus 5
