April 4, 1975: Bill Gates and Paul Allen founded Microsoft.

In 50 years, Microsoft grew to become the world's largest software manufacturer.
Legal disputes paved the way, even in the early days.

While Paul Allen died in 2018, Bill Gates today devotes himself, among other things, to his billion-dollar charitable foundation, which fights poverty, disease, and discrimination. To mark Microsoft's 50th anniversary, Gates released Altair BASIC as source code.

Windows 95 was the first operating system, a lot of gray and crashes BSOD. Windows XP was already advanced and Windows 7 was the breakthrough to a very stable system. With Windows 10, you had to crack down and delete and change a lot of things yourself. Windows 11 also runs stable, you just have to turn off the updates permanently. Windows 12, not me...!

    Windows 95 --> Windows XP --> Windows 7 --> Windows 10 --> Windows 11 ---> Update Stop

Amazing how much older Paul Allen looked even though he was only about two and a half years older.

Gates released Altair BASIC as source code.

The two wrote a Basic interpreter for the Altair 8800 DIY computer. They called it Altair Basic, which also laid the foundation for other products like Microsoft Basic. The code was printed on continuous paper, among other things. Bill Gates has made it public on his own website.

Those interested can download the 157-page PDF document.

March 1975, Bill Gates, and Paul Allen, meet with Satan and his lawyers.

Satan takes the form of Steve Ballmer to guide them towards domination of mankind...

Ballmer spends entire fortune on cocaine and gives speech to development community

    I started using Windows 95 in 1998.
Friends had Commondore 64. Back then, everything was very expensive, and even the hardware was gray!
My first AOL internet session cost me 6 DM (3 EUR)!

I had a beta of windows 1.0, that an EE friend gave me, it was only 1 or 2 floppies, monochrome only had a calculator and notepad as the only apps that ran under it. Though it was a joke at the time. Mac had more better stuff, though I liked DOS, since I could touch type and hated mice as you had to take one hand off the keyboard to use it.

It took a few years but Microsoft managed to overtake Macintosh not only in price but also in performance.
Today I am glad that I did not choose to go the Mac route - it has saved me a lot of money and worries with updates that often meant investing in new hardware.

Windows 286 and Windows 386 for me, which is weird because I'm sure I'm only 29.

Before this date they went to Palo alto at Xerox facility to steal the optical mouse and the foundation of the OS.
Because the CEO at Xerox at that time was too stupid to realize what Xerox had spend all that money on in developing would be a massive
invention. Smart CEO do smart things. LOL
