Just like in real life, if a product doesn't meet sufficient demand, it disappears from the market.
Unfortunately, Apple hasn't continued to develop Alchemy or provided updates for Windows users.

 

I paid full price for all of Camel Audio's catalog, and man was I sour when Apple bought them out, especially when they were the ones who bought Emagic. Bastards.

But it's business, and I have to admit that Apple has treated Alchemy and Logic good and proper, they're now even better pieces of software than what they were. A lot of great software companies get bought just for a small widget of theirs and the rest of the catalog buried. Or worse... ok, it's not audio software but see what happened with VMWare.

I'm still happy that I can run Alchemy and CamelPhat, but it just reinforced my belief that I should buy the software as is now if I think it's worth my euros, and expect nothing further. And at least scope a different upgrade/transition path if necessary.

And always render to .wav files. At least those will keep.

 

I also paid cash back then, and the beginning of Camel Audio Alchemy was great. Users said they wanted a different skin, so the gray one was replaced with the darker Nightshade skin. I still use Alchemy in Windows 11 today; it works perfectly. The size of the user interface is unfortunately a bit small, but it works and is still a valuable asset to me.
