I was waiting for UAD to make this move. Good decision. Sales will definitely increase. I bought some good plugins when I heard the news. Installation was a breeze. Why did i take so long for UAD to realize this cloud and USB iLOK stuff is a pain in the ass for a lot of musicians?

If you remove your ilok USB and restart Connect, don't they automatically migrate to machine authorisation?

For people having polymax stuck at cloud. De-authorize from cloud. After that cloud is no longer available and you have 3 machine auths. (at least that is how it worked here on first try)

I just spoke with the gals over at R2R, they told me they have a working version and will be releasing yesterday.

 

Universal Audio has officially discontinued support for FireWire-connected UAD devices, including the UAD-2 Satellite FireWire, with the release of UAD Software 11.6 and later. Users relying on FireWire connections must use UAD Software 11.5.2 or earlier, which remains available in the UAD Software Archives. Additionally, macOS Catalina (10.15) is the last version compatible with UAD FireWire products, as macOS Big Sur and later are incompatible regardless of the software version.

For those affected, Universal Audio suggests transitioning to Thunderbolt-based solutions, such as the Thunderbolt 3 Apollo models or newer Thunderbolt UAD Satellite devices. This marks a shift away from legacy FireWire technology, which has limitations in bandwidth and compatibility with modern systems.

 

Sure. Spend a few thousand more to get external DSP in an era where 16-core cpus are mainstream and HEDT cpus reached 64 cores. And no word about crossgrading the old FW Satellites for new TB ones with a generous discount to the potential users who might want to upgrade their Satellites. Meh UAD.

 

This is potentially good news for me. I've got a couple of octa core cards and have most of the decent UAD plugins on those. I recently bought a couple of native plugins and didnt realise they were ilok, and so never got to use them. I hope this news means I can finally play with those native plugs

My 2 cents regarding the DSP cards is that I turn to them when I'm running out of resources (which happens a lot in Ableton). I can pull up some DSP plugs and it keeps the flow going. Thats the value to me right now.
