@Grape Ape Thx Grape! Well they are fake I used a text to mp3 voice. You are hearing a little Permut8 with it.

I did more tracks with the fake voice one in french, "après nous le déluge" and one in english, "Stubborn risings." I made cut ups from archaic latin poet Nevio for the eng track. they're on my soundcloud if anyone is curious...

ehh sorry for flaking out last contest, im a terrible host hahaha. is what it is! everyones songs have been cool and its a great image to draw from. seeing it i thought, this is a perfect song to do one of those alarm/arp bass type beat cause its like running from demons or some shit. so thats how i started it out... and thats pretty much how it turned out. didnt really do any eqing or mixing and just slapped ozone on at the end. might go back and run all the tracks through the oto to tweak them and try and add vocals maybe, but who knows.

@reticular long time no see i remember you, you havent submitted in a minute. i survived the ambience for 7 minutes, wasnt as wallpaper-y as i usually find that style to be, made it easier. glad to have you back

I actually like/enjoy this style even if it goes for too long, my idea is using ol vhs tapes for this, gotta be patient, old gear etc...but i feel guilty for stealing full 7 minutes of your life

 

@reticular lol dont be man, its not like you put a gun to my head. trust me, i will press skip on something quick with no remorse - i do see why i liked yours more though, that approach reminds me of William Basinski, idk if you heard of him. he took like this tape reel that was falling apart and made these ambient loops with it, i like those The Disintegration Loops albums and thats ambient music

its also more likely to hit for me when its blended with other styles ive learned, like downtempo, ambient house, dub techno, etc. so i dont hate it, its just usually skip city for me. you did good though

 

@makros mk2 .. Your song harkened back to the film Running Man with which this piece would fit in nicely. Lived experience, LOL!

@reticular .. Your piece seems to me as the thoughts of a fellow stuck frozen to a wall, beheaded and waiting for something, anything to change.

@Grape Ape .. It definately would be a good piece to put on a pair of shorts to, lace up my running shoes, drop in my earbuds and take to the road on a nice 10 mile run.

 

@Grape Ape oh yes, for sure i know of Basinski, and his Watermusic II specially. The thing with tapes is, if i get to mangle around with it, it is never smart for me to leave it for another day, that day never comes, there´s no rhythm, no bassline...just old memories that have no bpm

@Lois Lane - that stuck feeling is the worst and can feel like we dont have our head on at all, for sure

This is a teaser from mine which I'm in the middle of recording now...Zillions of virus size space worms that have been hitching a ride on a comet look down from their travels at Earth below and decide to check it out and see if there is any protein for them to consume. They invade Earth and begin to eat everything, all the fauna including people, bacteria and any viruses but leave the flora alone. There is nothing left alive except that which grows from the earth. When they have eaten everything that they find fit to eat they sprout little worm wings, swarm together and fly back into the heavens to find their next food source. The fellow that is running without a head in the Rafael Canogar image is the storyteller. He's running but there is nowhere to hide.

Here is my inspiration for this non-contest.
This is a very short orchestral piece, as I mostly write orchestral / soundtrack music.
As an additional challenge, I used only one new sound library (Spitfire Albion Orchestral Selects) as I wanted to give it a try - except for the piano.

I can't say if the guy is escaping from something or himself, and let you decide if it ends well (or not)

 

@yodadl .. Thanks, that was very nice. When the density became less opaque for those few seconds I saw him turn to look behind to see if they were still chasing him. I guess to me he was running away from something.

@Rabany .. It's great to see you here. I enjoy how you mashed genre to propel the fellow in the painting/sculpture forward and backwards in time. Also because of the name that you've chosen for the forum have discovered a cool artist, a sculpture that I didn't know of before, one Antoine Rabany. Thanks!

Hey, vuldegger, it doesn't get much more noire than that. I see a a high shot above a rain drenched city, almost a dot amongst the reflected light in the puddles left behind the storm is a man running as fast as he can, and as we zoom in we see that he is bleeding profusely from a head wound. The piece is too short to see what happens next but it can't be anything good.
