So I am buying my first Mac today or tommorow (Macbook Pro MD101LL/A).

I've been using a PC, and through the use of Kaspersky Int. Sec. 2013 / Comodo Firewall (to block various files/apps), I have successfully been able to operate various warez.

Since I am going to use Mac as well, I now need to be familiar with the kind of applications needed to successfully run warez on that.

Can anyone give a list / links to info. about what I'd need?.. and possibly how (if not PITA)? .. obviously I have enough technical-know-how to do it on PC so...

Here's a general list of what I've been using on the PC, and will be using on the Mac:

DAW's - ABleton Live Suite 9, and Pro Tools 10.3.5 (but also Logic 9 now)

Plugs - PSP, Plugin Alliance, Lex. PCM,
Native Instrument (Vint. Comps, Boutique EQ/comps,Solid Mix, RC Classic Verbs, etc)
    Fabfilter, Waves Complete, etc...

I've heard of somthing called Sneek somethin or other.. but not sure... I want to get this thing running as quick as possible ya' know?

Thanks to all who help out!! :mates:

Xsze posted links are really good for what you are asking for - especially the "Optimize OS X Performance for Audio" - which I never saw before - very nice - thanks.

The "Optimize OS X Performance for Audio" link mentions an excellent firewall app called Little Snitch that I use regularly. It works great for blocking apps that like to phone or call home. Little Snitch comes up with a pop-up every time an app tries to connect to the net or phone home. You can setup permanent rules blocking the app completely or to block specific IP addresses or ports. Cost: $34.95

    Here: http://www.obdev.at/products/littlesnitch/index.html
    Here: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/10426/little-snitch

There is a very similar app called Hands Off! that has rave reviews and performs the same firewall functions. Cost $49.99

    Here: https://www.oneperiodic.com/products/handsoff/
    Here: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/35277/hands-off!

Both of those apps will cost you some cash but they are worth it IMO. See which one suits you best. Both have demo's you can download and test.

There is also a free firewall app called TCPBlock that has good reviews. Some folks are using TCPBlock in addition to either Little Snitch or Hands Off! (seems like overkill to me - but hey whatever floats their boat). From reading the reviews for TCPBlock it is not as comprehensive as Little Snitch or Hands Off!, and some users have difficulty setting it up, but it has a growing user base and the developer updates it regularly.

    Here: http://tcpblock.wordpress.com/
    Here: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/35914/tcpblock

Little Snitch IMO is real easy to setup and use. Although, I am biased because I bought it when it first came out and have been using it for years. I've never tried Hands Off! or TCPBlock - so I cannot speak on how they perform I've only read the user reviews and read the info on each developers web site. To me, Hands Off! appears to be a "copy" of Little Snitch when I look at screenshots and its functionality - plus Little Snitch is $15.00 USD cheaper - I don't see where Hands Off! offers more to justify the additional cost.

You can find Little Snitch and Hands Off! on the net and work some keys to the kingdom type of magic if you prefer.

FWIW a real good web site for looking up OS X applications and updates, along with good user reviews, is: http://www.macupdate.com/

    Good luck!

I saw that prior to my post.. definitely doing that before I start loading software/samples; however, my question is/was specifically geared towards successful warez use, not audio optimization... thanks for the help mate :mates:

there's got to be copies of that stuff floatin "around" right?... i'll check "around." thanks a lot for the info!!

if you state a problem, there might be a solution - I really cannot get your point. are you afraid the warez will eat your mac, need for counter measures? (yes they will, since the loss of several macs i'm 1001 percent legit - keep in mind: in soviet russia the apples eat you!)

+1 for little snitch! Such an amazing app. A little ironic that prior to purchasing it I had to block little snitch from snitching on little snitch.

Right! But even little snitch cant break its own powerful rules.

I thought of another needed application

    PlistEditPro

Full agreement there but would add something like Crossover, Parrallels (might be a bit over kill) or Wrappe[k] for running PC keygens.

Does the mac OS not come with a default firewall? Basic firewall functions should be all you need to block any program.

The Hands down shit you need.

    ESSENTIAL

    1. Little Snitch. BUY THIS… for real!
    2. Keka. I just found out it's more reliable than The Unarchiver
    3. Keygen Runner for .exe so you dont have to install windowze
    4. Quicklook Plugin for .nfo files
    5. Permission Reset or BatChMod (I prefer PR, but check em both)
    6. JBridge M if you want to use 32 Bit plugins… BUY IT! It's only 10 Bucks. But to be honest, don't waste your time on bridging 32 bit plugins. Some of them crash your DAW. Lex can easily replaced with some Valhalla DSP stuff. Just make it work.
    7. SoundStudio – solid audio editor for cutting samples.

    MAYBE

    8. Textmate for editing system files. (Plist Edit Pro is unneccessary imo)
    9. Pacifist. For opening up installtion files (.pkg etc), if something is wrong.
    10. Some Terminal Tweaks to disable annoyances and optimize the system.
    11. App Cleaner. Freeware for uninstalling Apps.

I prefer to use 32-bit DAW... the whole "limits are better" thing... so dont think i need the jbbridge-m

also, can i get a link to that "Keygen Runner" ?... saw it on Audioz but its dead... plus, I will have Mavericks installed, will keygen runner work on that?... should/can i uninstall mavericks and use the one before it?

although, I might not even connect to net with the mac.. i dont know.. might just use my pc laptop for downloading from audioz etc.

Few things I use are, daisydisk, little snitch!, go with 32 lives instead of JbridgeM honestly could never even get that terrible program to work lol, i keep logic 9 and logic x both on hand for DAWs, waves plugins, fabfilter plugins. This should get you started as logics plugins are top notch as well
