hi,i know how to record from a vst to an audio track,but what is the best way currently to record the output of one particular audio track to another in cubase 14 pro?

Select track(s) or event(s), then "Edit" → "Render in Place". It will create a new track next to the selected.

i know of two ways ,
1. create audio track and set its input as the output of the audio tracks u wanna record , then enable record on the new audio track and playback
2. use export mixdown , choose single export , select the tracks u wanna record and select import audio after and hit export

 

thanks,but i want to record wierd fx from the audio track,which are random.wont suit that way

 

ok,so i create new audio track,in the routing part i can select stereo in,or track instruments.i cant select the other audio track as an input

 

In Cubase 14 Pro, the best way to record the output of one audio track to another is by using a group track as an intermediary. Here's the step-by-step process:

1. Create a group track by right-clicking in the track list and selecting "Add Track > Group Channel".
   
   
2. Route the output of the source audio track to the newly created group track.
   
   
3. Create a new audio track that will receive the recording.
   
   
4. Set the input of the new audio track to the group track you created in step 1.
   
   
5. Arm the new audio track for recording.
   
   
6. Play the source track and record on the new audio track.
   

 

Don't you use sends on your reverbs, in almost every project? It's the same thing.

You put the "Weird effect" on an FX channel the same way you would a reverb. It can be any plugin you want to run in parallel also.

This is all basic routing stuff. There is probably a video you can find that covers all of it, specifically for Cubase/Nuendo. It can go from very basic routing to advanced tricks and techniques, and you will learn a lot about the bigger picture and get better or more creative mixes.

If I went back to Cubase after 10+ years on Logic, this is the first thing I would do. It's easy to think "but I know all that sh*t already". Yet, here we are discussing sends vs groups, vs buses, vca tracks, and others that you should be using in like every project.
