As much as us here may be ok with warez, it's likely true that there's a number of smaller devs who have lost their livelihoods due to it.
Imagine investing years into studying, money into starting a business, time into developing products, marketing etc. only for someone like our beloved teams to show up and smash it all into pieces in a day, casually.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are bitter, jaded individuals out there who are very computer savvy and on a personal vendetta against VR, possibly other teams as well.
It's a big world out there, crazy shit happening.

Nope. Politics and shady business involved. Things that was posted by attacker is actually a well known information in certain circles. The information by itself is useless because those who need to know it, already knew it for decades. Cringe happens sometimes.

 

A few minutes using Maltego. It is open source intelligence gathering. There is a free Community Edition version in Kali linux but only for 25 free transforms in a month. Look at the "Company Stalker" mode, and everything posted could be harvested in a few clicks.

A lot of it is even older information. I mean, ICQ uin? Hotline? Who would manually include such fossils?

If they were serious, there are fraud and cyber squads in most, if not all technology countries in the world. As for who it is, flip a coin. It could be anyone. It could be Giancarlo who attacked R2R and others publicly on the forums. It could be a rival hacker, a disgruntled ex-employee - as I said, anyone.

 

Hi to everyone. Taking in count the *form* of the leaked data is very possible that the machine was intruded via exploit by Kali from a live DVD/USB (I've seen simmilar scenarios before). Obviously the real hacker isn't japanese at all... I would be terribly surprised if our friends aren't behind a fully functional VPN & all the exposed data has to be a cover up, I guess they know how to protect themselves, otherwise the situation is really really bad. I strongly hope not.

Edit; would be really helpfull if the Mod & the Creator could speak directly to the affected team. I was fighting against new variants of Floxif/H & Floxif/E along the past month. If the answer is positive a strong insight in our systems becomes mandatory. It's a very fast & efficient multi-replicant which sends all data to *somewhere* with no strugglin' the system at all, terribly silent, but it can be defeated avoidin' desperation. Doin' it right the affected files becomes recoverable.

Side note: those comments were visible for quite a while. This is just a suggestion, but it might be worth giving more people a kind of "user suspension permission" so that in such cases there is always someone online who can take action.

 

my theory is still some OSint application like Paterva Maltego CE in Kali. The "Japanese" username belongs to someone who is exactly anything but Japanese. They pulled that amount of information, most of it real info from those platforms, which VR provided when creating those accounts. But it is all the sorts of data people use to sign up new email accounts to use as spam boxes, and the like. The reason to post such an info dump is because they already know there is nothing they can do with any of it. If they could have, they wouldn't have even posted it. "The Quieter You Are, The More You Can Hear." Posting all that stuff is as loud as it can get.

Posting 4 year old system details from a PC should be seen as the "tell" of a bluff. ALF aka Gordon Shumway is probably not worried at all. With that much fur, he is always holding heat.

U'r surely right in a couple of aspects, but the data was taken from one of the team's machines. We'll hardly confirm this, but the end of the leaked data in the sheet clearly exposed it. Before open the back door, the user made click in an infected file. I guess the trojan came in a *contribution* (as a compressed code or some like that) sent by an angry undercover developer.
