My point is that considering AI's "opinion" is dumb. It's a toy. It doesn't understand nuances. It just throws at you the most popular answers without really understanding what it's talking about.

It doesn't matter that AI told you its opinion is based on credible sources. What are those sources? What part of the answer has been based on these sources? And what part has been hallucinated by AI to fill in the gaps? You can't really tell. And AI lies. Often.

It's one thing to ask AI about breakfast recommendations and the other thing to ask for its "opinion" in a more serious setting.

It does not Think. It is not sentient. It also does not "Lie". Can it present information which is "Incorrect"? Sure. But a Lie implies some form of deliberate deception. Of course it will make mistakes, because the information it harvests from the wide open internet may be wrong. And so are many printed books. Or your own comments. Every time someone posts about a plugin on a forum, are we now looking for various Citations and proper academic footnoting practice? Good luck with that. Various curated Wikipedia articles are curated over months or even years, and Wikipedia is not an acceptable source of information in an academic white paper either. It's not an accepted expert on anything, but nor are you.

It's amazing to see people so badly wanting it to be some Hoax, or nothing but a parlor trick. Furiously hoping to poke holes in its output to prove what point? It is faster than someone using Google. It is called Artificial Intelligence, not Replacement Intelligence. It seems you and others saying the same things were hoping for the latter. Be careful what you wish for.

I'm sorry, but you are wrong. The problem does not lie with the source data, but with the tool itself.

It's not a search engine on steroids, as you imply. That's a very flawed thinking. It's not designed to give you the correct answer. It's designed to give you the most plausible answer. An answer that sounds real, but not necessarily is real. If you don't see the difference, then I don't know what else to say to you.

I'm still waiting for the first case of someone dying, because of AI hallucinating the wrong construction standards or some other shit like that.
