If your deal is audio or even audio for video I would recommend not skimping on the audio interface. One half of the computer/audio experience is the hardware that makes up the interface the other half is the drivers. If either wing of that conversation is deficient in some way your audio creation experience will be compromised.

My suggestions;
If you have the cash check out the apogee audio symphony studio. The second choice if you are more strapped for cash would be the RME Audio FireFace UFX units. Either of these choices will give you outstanding audio quality and the drivers are top notch for whatever platform you end up on.

If you look around you might find some deals on pre-owned units mentioned above.

RME or Motu would be my top recommendation, because of solid drivers. RME supports their cards for - most of the time - more than 20 years. Would you purely go for good preamps, I would recommend UA, Antelope, Lynx or Apogee for example.
