I think you might be my Kontakt-twin :rofl:I have the latest HCiSO running as well, though I'm a little over 250 libs (there might be 350) and I'm not going to update to K8 unless there's a working Fred Blogg's app that provides the opportunity. Anyways....the mutual update to 14.7.2 and not properly functioning KLU can't be a coincidence I think....

Hello than to my Kontakt twin! :). Hmm.. Yeah, I'm not sure what the issue is here for you, as other then our chipset, we pretty much have the same scenario, but I'm not experiencing problems with KLU2, or it's audit, just slow populating search fields and whatnot in the Kontakt 7standalone app itself, but NOT in using the plugins au or vst3 in a host daw ... (and just so specifics are given, I'm still using the second to last HCiSO release in 7.10.6 (as there was some issue I believe I read or whatnot that was probably a pebkac for someone else, and I intend to update soon))...

so that is something I can live with, (as I generally just adhere to the practice of checking new libraries after adding via KLU2 in standalone prior to daw instantiation as it has been advised) .... I just don't know why its having that issue, which always is gonna bother me lol, but yeah, it did correspond to the same day I updated Sonoma to 14.7.2, ...so maybe there is something there, despite the fact our issues are different. I will check again later.

I'm just curious as I haven't seen either issue reported by anyone else, and surely, even while Kontakt 8 is out, and perhaps many have made the move to Seqouia, I know many people who have remained in Sonoma land for now, and Kontakt 7 land for now as advised and been remarkably stable (outside of what our separate problems are! )

Happy Holidays to you, and thanks always to Fred Blogg's for providing us with this great tool, and I hope he is having a great festive season as well!

I've never heard that before - what are you checking for, and what do you do after the check? If this is something that's advised I'm wondering if it's why I sometimes have weird problems with KLU2 and certain libraries.

Yeah, I can't remember exactly where I read that, whether it was something mentioned by Fred Bloggs (which I doubt, as I imagine it would be in his FAQ's/Read Me's (which maybe is, but I haven't read in awhile, as haven't had need of late), or someone else whose opinion I respect... and I can't vouch for it's veracity in import, but I will say I have had little to no problems adhering to a particular order of operations, some of which may be superfluous, some aren't, and perhaps a little over OCD, but with a new system and coming from many older systems and having libraries dating decades... this is what I do if I have a library I want to test or add via KLU2:

    1. Open KLU2 and let it perform it's audit, read audit to see if anything is 'off'...

    2. I usually only add a library or two at a time, and do so via KLU2 (and while tools exist to add artwork and change snipd's or create ninct files etc... I don't futz with that, as Talula and other providers have made some good arguments about how it could possibly lead to future problems so..).

(and note, I don't use the 'new' NI library view, as I'm used to the sidebar version, and despite the fact they have neutered certain navigational tools since v6 in establishing certain locations on different drives etc, I've come up with less elegant, but functional workarounds... although at some point I should probably invest a little time with the 'new' view, as I imagine it's not going away, although they tend to find a way to f up everything, and if set up properly with some time, could ultimately make my workflow faster.... (but having been burnt before by them with now extant features or ecosystems like Kore1/Kore2/Maschine central whatever etc.. I'm not to skippy on spending a lotta time invested on that..)

    3. Close KLU2, and open standalone Kontakt. Go to library, open it, insure briefly that it is operating correctly and artwork and gui's are all fine, snapshots or whatever in place.

    4. close then and open whatever daw, open the Kontakt vst3 or au and proceed with fun time.

Doing so, I've had everything of late work, the only issues I've had have been with some pre-ninct libs etc, or some other ancient relics etc.

And other things, like if I change locations of libraries from one drive to another, I always uninstall it via KLU2, and then reinstall in from its new location etc. The bulk move install/uninstall functionality may work just fine, I've never had to use it personally, and due to NI changing certain things under the hood that Fred Bloggs himself acknowledges he has to take a closer look at, and seeing others having issues with Kontakt 8 in some instances, whether self inflicted or something else, I've stayed on Kontakt 7.10x currently, as working just fine.

@Fred Bloggs KLU doesn't show any of my legit libraries that I have installed via Native Access. Is that normal?

Please can someone help me. I'm not a Mac user but trying to help a friend who wants to try out some of the libraries. I use Kontakt on PC so can't tell him what to do.

Please tell me the process to add libraries using this tool.

So I'll tell him to install Kontakt first (probably v7 as I don't know how well v8 works on the Mac)
What are the stages to adding libraries using this tool after that?

    Thanks in advance people!

Oh also, I downloaded the file called KLU 2.4.0.dmg - is this correct?

Yeah, I would recommend v7.10.x as will probably have the least amount of problems (at least now).

But I would just download the latest version (so yes, it is KLU. 2.4.0 ) in the first post of this thread, and read closely the instructions and FAQ provided by Fred Bloggs, and peruse through this thread as any little complications or 'gotcha's' or approaches have been either well documented by him or discussed and addressed by other users here.

Hi @3R4Z0R. The best I can propose here is "maybe"! Let me explain what I have ascertained since the release of K8 and for which I'm looking for solutions. It's not going very well :(. The main snag is that KLU2 no longer has a straight forward method to find what libraries are installed. Up until K7, checking whether a library had a file in the Service Center folder and a main preferences file, along with the inevitable NICNT file, was enough to establish that the library was installed, or one of those files was corrupt in some way. Not so since K8 ! The service center file looks to be replaced with the new "installed_products" .json file, which now holds the path to the library folder, rather than the "main preferences" file.
I have found a few convoluted ways of getting there, but NOTHING RELIABLE. There is one main thing I need to find on Mac… where Kontakt stores its database and, incidentally, how to decode it, once found. I have actually been looking for this database for several years now, but without success. I found some likely candidates, with quite a few indications, without being able to decode them. This same database very likely also holds the library order, which as things stand, Kontakt can update without rebooting, where KLU can't.
What you could do to confirm what I'm suggesting here is to check the legit libraries that ARE installed but not seen by KLU, to see if they have a service center file or not. I know "Sequis" is such a library. It has an "installed_products" .json file, but NO service center one.
Anyone with any inside knowledge is very welcome to chip in here…

Hello Fred Bloggs, many thanks for the KLU V2, and all the followers
    I'm on Mac Mini M4 RAM 32G
    OS Sequoia Logic Pro 11.1
    .
KLU don't recognize the 2 library and they not been mounting in Kontakt 7 ( Moria)
When I drag a library, I get " This library would appear to be installed...".
I wait and nothing changes in KLU and Kontakt.
In fact it takes a long time, may be

This isn't the kinda thing to bother Fred Bloggs with tbh, as your results beg more question than info provided etc., and there isn't anything he can do other then what I would do in advising you to read his faq's, text files, and this thread completely twice. If you are using v7.10.x, everything has been copacetic for everyone who has done it right outside of some issues with sourcing certain libraries or nicnt issues that have been messed with, or libraries that are extant in not containing said nicnt files etc.

and use HCiSO Kontakt v7.10.x at least, as historically more generally solid than the MOiRA releases etc..

And if you are talking about the 'general library' I imagine? make sure it is the one that corresponds to the version of Kontakt you are using.

But I would recommend a proper uninstall of what you have now, and start over with HCiSO version myself.

I'm not intending any diss on MOiRA or anything, it's just their proclivity is to tend to release stuff fast and first, and in my experience, I'd rather wait a day or two, and get "right" from HCiSO and others.

    Dear sisyphus
AppCleaner + EasyFind to delete all Kontact 7 folder & files
    Clear KLU
    HCiSO installed
    rum KLU
Then "This library would appear to be installed..."
The following NICNT files' SNPID numbers differ from the Service Center ones :

    • Action Strings 2 NICNT has an SNPID number () different to that of the Service Center XML file (K23) .• Action Strings 2 NICNT has an SNPID number () different to that of the Main library preferences file (K23)
I don't have the path to the • Action Strings 2 library folder!

    In TextEdit
    I've this
    <SNPID>K23</SNPID>
    <RegKey>Action Strings 2</RegKey>

I can load in Kontakt/file but Libraru not found.
    So what to do?
    Do you need more info?

First, thanks for the concise information! :)

    one other question: (actually 2)

-Did you install v7 of Kontakt or v8 from HCiSO?
-Was the source of the Action Strings 2 library from sister site or someplace else?

Second, let me look at my setup and Action Strings 2 (I don't remember if I have it right now, as I used the old one on release, and there are so many string libraries out there, and they've come a long way, and I get that some people may still like the way that one was setup or use to it etc, but I have some vague memory of perhaps having an install issue with that one as well myself, but I will get back..sorry, I had to work late and am just getting up...so not in full thinking mode yet as haven't even had coffee...)

Sometimes the libraries obtained at sister site and different places do have some issues with snipd numbers etc as sometimes the releaser will have changed the number or done something else to it that is inconsistent with what NI has in their matching list, and can create an incongruity with NI, and can lead to problems in that regard.. I'll see if that is one of them...)

As Talula has warned on before, that getting cute with some things in changing artwork and messing with snipd number assignments and whatnot, ...well, he recommends against it, and while KLU2 has these tools to do certain things, they aren't always recommended to use, as we've seen with some libraries or growing pains between the use of KLU2 and Kontakt 8 (but I'm careful or reluctant to attribute that to the problem you are having)..

I have like 250-300 libraries right now that require KLU2 to install (those requiring the NI licensing shakedown etc), and out more then that that I have acquired, I believe I've only had a similar problem with like 3 or 4 of them, and mostly as they were older pre-nicnt libraries that perhaps someone had assigned something different to them then the NI 'official', or whatnot, and that played a part in the problem, but let me look again when I have my wits together and hopefully we can figure this out for you...

Yo I just checked out the file with the command file. And it seems that there is no longer anyway that I can import new Kontakt Library cuz the file isn't there anymore.
I think MAC (Im on Mac Sequoia 15.3) decided to delete the file....
If someone know how to fix this let me know !

The file that used to open a command page to make Kontakt detect libraries. It had the commands to add a library in my memory.

um, you mean KLU 2? or are you talking about another app etc? As this thread as nothing to do with anything you had used previously etc that isn't working.

I would suggest reading the thread and Fred Blogg's faq's and text information to see what might have gone wrong, as we can't chew your food for you in that regard you know?

We don't know, and apparently, you don't know, what you were using or implementing before, and so we can't help you until you help yourself and educate yourself on this. I'm not trying to be a dick here at all, but one has to make at least an effort to either be able to name what app or process they were utilizing before shit clogging this thread. Thank you.
