Has anyone played the game "Stray"?
The story was great, but the music was great too.

 

I bought it the day it was released (after waiting about five years for them to develop it). Loved everything about it - particularly the score.

 

I looked into it, but it seems that he is not a man who only makes soundtracks for famous games.
I can't believe there was a hidden genius in this place...

 

The story and the soundtrack blend in beautifully.

I absolutely loved the in-universe music, whether heard in public places, in futuristic cassette players, or just played by the homeless street musician robot. Futuristic, clumsy and hilariously emotive songs.

I played Stray one year ago and it was amazing. The soundtrack was composed by Yann Van Der Cruyssen who also made music for other games.
Exographer is the last game with his music (I didn't play this)

 

Actually, when I play games, I'm obsessed with playing, so I don't care about the music in the game.
But the music in this game is strangely indulgent.
Human sensibilities are strange...

I liked Stray, it was cute and well executed for the simple game it was. A nice break from all of the shit happening around.

I've been replaying Dark Soulses and I like their take on music: there's precious little of it. The games are mostly just dripping in thick ambient atmosphere, and when music happens it's either very low key or way over the top in bossfights. The background music to Majula in Dark Souls 2 is just sublime:

That said, I've got a soft spot for DS3 main theme which is about as powerful and emotive as they come:

Having done some sound design, music, and sound code for games I can certainly appreciate the effort that goes into modern games.

 

I think that you can and you should. It would be interesting, never seen a thread like this.

Ok, apologies for spamming this thread (will stop after this, promise!), but anything by Disasterpeace. Soundtracks to Fez and Hyper Light Drifter are truly great, first they enhance the already great games, but they're solid on their own. I rarely go out and get OSTs, but these ones were well worth the money.

Fez's music was described as "8-bit Vangelis" and I think that's pretty apt:

Hyper Light Drifter is way more abstract and surreal but maybe because of this, it still gives me the chills (warning: flashing lights)

Well known games if you're into indies but if not, then these masterpieces can be had for very cheap these days. Highly recommended.
