Some wave files in this post comparing the B Wave with a PPG. Plus a write up, opinion.

 

This is going to be huge.

Even if it costs more than their Oberheim clone, it will still be a bargain when considering what we are getting here.

It's going to cost $600 which is less than their Oberheim clone.

Behringer has always manufactured in China and has always undercut all competitors worldwide on price - it is the Behringer business model to be cheaper than others. Copying is also part of it. That is the only way to achieve high sales volumes.

I would say Behringer will continue to dominate the market and stay in the market because it makes products that people can use at an affordable price.

 

Much more difference than I was expecting, the B sounds timbrally more plain/boring.

I'm not really a fan of the PPG Wave in the first place, wavetable synths have improved much since then. So I don't see the value in this half-baked clone.

 

What does "timbrally more plain/boring" even mean exactly?

You're actually the first person I've seen, so far, describe it as boring sounding. People by and large agree it sounds great, regardless of accuracy.

I agree with qwave, it's best sounding clone so far.

Note: he did not match the sounds, he just used the same settings on both synths.

Also of note: "The VCA envelopes of the Behringer are super linear. The PPG ones are exponential. Behringer, we need an update." -qwave
