    Hello, my friends

I am an Android user for years now, but really dont understand the system.
I rarely install apps from 3rd party/not on google play

Are these Android apps for download (on sister site) safe?

I mean, my phone is connected to the internet all the time.
My music production PC is an offline machine and I know very well how to manage a firewall to silent windows apps, but on android, i just can't understand the system

    thanks in advance

If your phone's on a fairly recent version of Android (like less than 5 years old), apps can not access files outside their own folders, unless you explicitly grant them the right to do so when you get the popup. So they can never (unless you have serious unpatched security exploits) steal your memes or pictures of puppies.

Most flavours of Android also let you completely disable internet access for every app individually - I'd do this for all offline-capable apps.

If you need to install "obb" folders (or "data" or "cache") and you're on Android 13+(?), you must use an USB cable and a computer; you can no longer do this on your own unmodified phone.

Most software (not games) releases for Android are just the unmodified commercial APK and 100% clean. If it's some kind of online service with login, I'd think really long and really hard before installing a modified APK.

If you want to install ReVanced, only get it from the official place and use a dummy Google account. (Yes, I too know a guy who lived to 98 despite smoking like a locomotive from 1882, but why take the risk)

There are several firewalls and host blockers for Android, some require rooting, some work as on-device-VPNs - no root: not a lot of control.

I would get another cheap Android if you want to play around cos if you do online banking it may stop the banking app from working if installing Apps from Unknown Sources (those not from Google Play Store) and other services like Samsung Pay. I had a phone that was rooted and somehow Samsung know it has been rooted so many times and even after restoring Original Firmware it still would not let me use Samsung Pay or Samsung Health (even though I don't anyway) so wouldn't play with your main mobile phone

I think you cover all the details I want to know
    thank you very much.
I'm on Android 14. I buy all the apps I use, because the price tags are low almost all the times. But there is some apps I wanna try before buy.
The security of my device is ok.
I'm gonna overlook the permissions of every app.
I had no idea I could disable the internet access for every app individually, this is the gold, I'm goona look for it.
