I'm sooo confused. People are dancing on all the techno videos like that's why they came, to dance. If Techno is not EDM, then what is it and what am I missing? I haven't had my first coffee yet so it might be that.

Techno deserves its own family tree.its rich history eminating from detroit to berlin to rotterdam and London.It almost mirrors House Music from Chicago to Frankfurt to paris.Point is,These genres took 20 odd years to return home to the States and were all wrapped up in an all in one EDM package,a term not used in Europe.

 

enough ppl are the same opinion like me that EDM is a huge genre pool emerged around early 2010 ,one of the few i like in there is EDM TRAP which seem allready dead but thats not the point .
...when you want throw all the gabber,,hardcore,happy hardcore,big beat ,techno,dnb and real house genre and what not into the pile of mostly shit genres just because you cant
differentiate because EDM also somehow stands for electronic dance music i really cant help you....

 

and tf why you guys not able to let more specialiced genre threads drive vice versa to what are you listening to now thread which got sort of specialiced by user dynamics .....
instead you seem to have foster damaged and then ppl are amazed why im so triggered by the destruction by hydro and his 127 accounts....

Sure, give me enough drugs and I'll dance to this and it's electronic so... yeah let's leave that. Besides, when it comes to electronic dance music we've already had EBM and IDM so I'll stick with those, no need to add to the confusion.

its a fine line that you only know when you've crossed it, kinda like the border between usa and canda, or diet coke and coke zero.

It helps to understand the chord progressions and instruments, I myself have an 8 year degree in techno with a minor in EDM, and I find that EDM has hardly any minor chords at all and if does they're minor 5ths or 7ths and has hardly any accordion or tuba in all of the compositions of which I am familiar, which is literally dozens..

 

Music Historian and Scholar, I.M. Konfused, pins Techno's origin to Midieval Englannd, a colony of Ireland, a small emerald island in the north sea.

In these times, often rode through the villages, knights in armor. These metal suits, produced a clangy noise, which along with the horses cadence gave a somewhat mechanical or very regular beat which resonated some distances away. Both drinking my coffee and reading your post have relaxed the bowels of my understanding on the subjecct and I now feel as if a load has been taken off my mind in not of understanding the subject at hand. You are a fine educator and a wealth of information.

 

To get back to the subject, Carl Craig (in his zillion aliases) is a genius, plain and simple. And this track reminds me of something on this side of the Atlantic, The Black Dog (and their million incarnations) are geniuses as well.

I'm a sucker for that heavily lowpassed square wave bass, pure noctural hypnotic bliss.

 

Oh, one more. Looks like I've ventured into the meandering moody slower tracks again, sorry.

Here's a certified banger and/or soundsystem killer from back in the day. The bass on this one is fun, need to weigh down the tonearm so it doesn't skip, especially when spinning on shoddy tables down in a basement somewhere. We're all done that, right?
