20VC: "...I created like 25 songs in the last few days".

This statement is truly absurd and would only be true if the very definition of creation is redefined. In the cited video in the first post, the word is repackaged, modified and of course necessarily redefined ala "Newspeak" to sell a product that's sole intention (besides, and which goes beyond saying, make as much profit as it can for it's investors) is to act as propaganda which is meant to further rope in and brainwash the masses that a passive existence is optimal while at the same time treating people like little puppies by petting them on the head while an animated voice heeps praises such as...Your such a good dog!!! "Peace is war" or "freedom is slavery" immediately come to mind. This is alternate reality shit and things like this are not even nearly opaque as they used to be any more. Managing the masses has become, if not an art form in itself, a craft that is being perfected in what can only be seen as blatent mass hypnosis. Snap the fuck out of it! I could only stomach a short few minutes of those two in the video before it all became an absurd clown circus. I needed to stop when the guest likened creating music to playing a video game in which absolutely nothing is being created by the person who is playing said video game. It bodes terribly for the future of art and artists if they can convince people that by using a painting by numbers virtual canvas you can be just like Van Gogh. And add insult to injury, their little product's intention to sell waking dreams is created by literally stealing actual artists work. If you want to make music then learn an instrument, work hard, and with your native passion and the capacity of your intelligence always from moment to moment continue to learn and grow like a vine's fervent ambition into reaching the sun. There is literally no other way.

Fvkk that guy. Him and all his techbro buddies are uncultured swines who don't know the first thing about art and creation.

And no, sucking at something is not something to skip, it is great and necessary for your growth (not just in music).

That Suno stuff is so horrendous, I can clock it immediately. The only thing good coming out of this is that it plainly shows what sheer unadultered mediocrity sounds like (like with all AI, as dead mow cinco said, averaged stupidity).

If you too are feeling gaslighted, check the podcast Better Offline, it's a dude who discusses the AI bubble and its lore, real good stuff

We're already inundated with the noise of fake autotuned and pitch corrected crap masquerading as music, AI just adds another layer of noise. But there are still real artistes out there doing incredible things. Like Ren who performs his music and makes his videos in real time. It does seem that people like him are rare. AI certainly has no utility in this kind of real performance and I hope it never will.

ever seen a turd talk? grab your chance and watch the vid. :bleh: besides that, a computer can only reproduce what has already been and at the best make new combinations from what has been fed into the program, it's like the algorithms of all the socials, it will only confirm what you been reading/watching/listening to and the bias will keep you in the filter bubble forever. The problem these days is that people can't tell the difference between real mashed potatoes (made with potatoes, eggs and milk) and a box of instant mashed potatoes (made with water and a powdery substance) and think they're both delicious and nutricious :dunno:

In today's rapidly evolving food culture, we have to ask ourselves: Is it chewing we enjoy or is it tasting?

We here at IntelliNutri firmly believe that chewing is not what makes the food experience enjoyable. People crave tastes, not biting, salivating, or swallowing.

Do you really want to spend 10 years learning how to eat properly? 3% of your life is wasted wiping your butt due to food intake, so why do it?

Try our IntelliNutri AI-Taste starter syringes for just $39.99. Each syringe contains a variety of tasty flavours that are as real as they can be*, including steak tartare and grandma's stuffed turkey.

    Don't chew - just do.

AI-Taste - All the taste, all the nutrients, none* of the downsides.

    AI-Taste - I can't believe it's not solid food!

*May cause side effects including diarrhoea and vomiting. Severity may vary. Typically affects less than 3.5% of users.

That analogy doesn't really make sense in this context. "Ordering food and enjoying it, not the cooking" would be equivalent to "buying music and enjoying it, not the composing". I'm not sure that having an AI make music for you instead of buying music made by real artists has any good equivalents.

Additionally, there are a few restaurants still around that grind their spices on a regular basis and prepare each meal on a per order basis instead of a bulk cookpot. If anyone has sat near a kitchen in a restaurant that grinds their own fenugreek, cumin, coriander, basil leaves... not excluding the smells emanating from the meals they cook... the natural salivating experience prior to eating adds even more to it.

Timeless music and high quality music historically has never been churned out in mere minutes. There are exceptions but very few and most were only foundations, not completed works. Sure a computer can mathematically calculate potentially up to a million times more quickly than a human brain. That should tell anyone intelligent immediately what it cannot do. There is one thing that nobody has mastered with A.I. The ability to understand human emotion adequately. It can only calculate the post results of the human condition creating something. A piece of music generated in joy, sadness, elation or grief has a modus operandi that regeneration by putting mere text in will never sufficiently be able to generate it at an emotive input level.
A.I can only copy output, post input. All based on what already exists. Tell it to write original music in a new genre that nobody has created or thought of before. Then I'll be impressed.

Basically he has no clue what music is.
And secondly he does not get that it's fun to learn something new.
And he does not get that it is enjoyable learning something that is NOT easy to learn. Because it's not easy!
In summary he hasn't got how the world functions inside. He's just superficial. Full stop.
... like so many people today. :dunno:

    p.s.: John F. Kennedy's "going-to-the-moon-because-its-hard-speech" comes to mind.

    Great guy, great speech

Oh but I do have an idea, how is prompting "more interactive" than actually editing individual notes? Can you insert custom/generated melodies into AI generated songs on the fly? Can you change the timbre and instrumentals? At that point you have to make the AI music generation workstation so granular that you might as well make the music yourself.

Right now they are just black boxes that do input => output and they will stay like that for a while because why would the companies want you to take a peek inside their secret sauce, it is good that you have use their website and their GPUs to create these things and have it as opaque as possible. I don't think that is what "interactive" means, at least for me.

sure you have no soul... so you need to prompt things endlessly and recklessly (like rubbing the aladin lamp but the genie has escaped and flea somewhere better to be ) like in a David Lynch movie... with sex violence and drugs... like any good zealot boy or girl would do

You inspiration has gone to fuck with medusa for ultimate sex fabrix in the cosmic egg.... &

Yet, you surf on the hill of pure madnest and still have a dog face smile like there is no more tomorrows
and you are just about to crash into the dash of your own vehicule... ridicule... like in the song Castles Made Out Of Sand...

There was a young girl whose heart was a frown
'Cause she was crippled for life and she couldn't speak a sound

And she wished and prayed she could stop living
    So she decided to die
She drew her wheelchair to the edge of the shore
And to her legs she smiled, "You won't hurt me no more"
But then a sight she'd never seen made her jump and say
"Look, a golden winged ship is passing my way"
And it really didn't have to stop
    It just kept on going

It does if you see through the marketing mist to get the irony: as 'mind-reading' gets better and better, 'prompting' will get closer and closer to just pressing play. (Once a friend told me he had made bread and I was amazed at his progress, as he was just starting out on cooking, only to find out later he had popped frozen buns from the store into the airfryer).
NB: would baking a cake from a box count as 'baking a cake'? I believe so, as it is much closer to the original process, and as much as sample juggling counts as making music (fuzzy concepts).
