I'd never heard of him until maybe 2-3 years ago my cousin whos 9 was singing his stuff and I'm like who the fuck is that goofy bastard with a Marshmellow on his head lol. I'm not really hanging him so to speak, eveyone has genres they like and some they don't. I like his trap dubstep stuff but not his mainstream pop or country work. I didn't even know he was Dotcom or that skrillex put him on either. I don't follow music like I used to.

How the hell could the government pay out $9.9 million to Marshmello just because he said that he made more than that the year before from touring? That's absolutely fucking insane. At the very most, they should have looked at how much money he would have needed to survive (food, basic clothing, rent etc), and also take into account how much money he was still making every month even though he wasn't touring. It's even said in the exposé that he didn't use any of that money to pay to his management (which I guess is what the grant was actually supposed to be used for). Why wouldn't they just pay that money directly to the employees of big artists instead of to the artists themselves? They could have had the artists apply for the grant, but have the money being paid out directly to the employees as a regular monthly salary. Insanely stupid. I hope all of the artists who were exposed for misusing the grants for their own luxurious lifestyles will be forced to repay every single cent (although I doubt that will ever happen).

There's no way this guy did this on his own accord. It's too much money for anyone to just wing it and try getting away with something like that. It would be lawyers, accountants, and possibly even his record label; who would come up with that kind of grey-area/loophole sort of thing. 9 million dollars is generally not a "oh, just pay it back when you can" kind of a thing. Maybe he did exploit a loophole, but I'd bet nothing about it was actually "illegal". He's likely insulated by his own LLC, and maybe some more layers than that; and the whole thing is just a pittance in the greater scheme of things. He is hardly Bernie Madoff.

Let's not confuse wearing a mask with lack of talent or ability to create something of interest though. There's a bucket* load of artists who have historically worn/wear masks that are entirely credible.

It's also not beyond argument that 99% of mainstream artists are wearing masks 100% of the time anyhow, which actually makes it more unusual to not wear a mask.
