Can't this be produced more cheaply than software synthesizers?

Anyone of you ever got to experience one? If I owned this people would be in such awe. NO ONE here has anything like that or probably even seen it.

Make your own, I can get you started with a slice of tree for only $300 or $390 if you want it varnished.

You can read their description, and find equivalent controllers in MIDI format, plugins ... to reproduce it.

what you think could be the price for his universal controller build in series production ?
i dont get over the lack of pure quality lifetime durablity controllers on the marked...enough ppl having 70k production studios using 250 dollar masterplastickey with shit knobs and so on...i dont get it...
but even for minimalists...when i sum what i bought wrong i could have bought his universal controller from.
....maybe a bit appart from novation and even less arturia and this broken in second hand and long discontiued and new , all the new low price plastic breaks very fast and is shitty quality haptik .
akai mpd32 and behringer bcf/bcr were good to very good budget units..maudio is pure garbage...spoken from my small experience.

I mean I'm not that shocked by the price. It needed development, it's not mass market- one could even say its rather niche.. taxes..
And built quality seems decent. I just wonder how fast that novelty wears off when you got one of those at home. How many tracks do I want to have with those reverberated random industrial noises? And when one would use it as 'just a synth'.. isn't it more hassle to program the key(s) into those nobs instead of just having one hand on the old school keyboard and the other one on the rotaries?
It certainly is a cool little thingy to impress live.
But besides that it might be another dust catcher after a few weeks.

@Plendix : yeah i feel you. imo though the major benefit of stuff like this creatively is that it causes you to approach it differently, which changes how you think about it. just the feel of it in your hands and how its mapped out, youre more likely to come to different conclusions musically than you would with a standard synth

which when you know the feel of it from playing with it a lot, you can easily get a certain vibe from it specifically thats unique too it, so it always has that purpose; at least in my experience with stuff like this and seems able to do a lot in regards to synthesis. not to say you cant recreate musical ideas or sounds, but how you get to them is crucial

Yes, ive played one, and yes its incredible. Just like all SOMA instruments. I own a few of their instruments. The Pipe, which is a crazy vocal synth microphone thingy that is absolutely nuts. Lyra, which is in ways similar to Terra, but different. I got the DIY version, which was a lot of fun to make. The process of making it creates a strong connection with the instrument. Beautiful piece of gear. Lastly, i own Pulsar, which is the craziest "drum machine" synth thing. Its highly modifiable, based around the concept of circuit bending. Insane sounds. The CEO / creator of Soma, Vlad is a genius. Their team in general are all really cool, humble, interesting people. I plan to purchase Terra, just have other priorities right now.
