I recently watched Marshmello incriminating himself on his Production Breakdown video of "Just Can't Stop" posted on his channel on youtube. Timestamp 47:05

Loads of Serum Packs from DiSCOVER. Is this a Carnage like episode by Marshmello in 2025?

Behind that mask he is one of us. But nothing like us!

If I were making money from music, I would spend every dime towards the contributors that provide me the resources to make music commercially. It's just hard to make it in music however, I would have never imagined the ones who have could also stoop so low.

He also cheated the system and basically stole something like 8 million dollars from covid relief funds. People like him need to be excommunicated from the scene, management should drop him etc, but they were likely all complacent. They make artist grants, relief funds etc much harder to attain for the artist that actually need / deserve them. Screw him.

He's a legitimate industry plant, he can do anything he wants and get away. That said, I have legitimate software that I still prefer to use cracked. The day Sonnox is cracked, I can get rid of iLok once again.

I'm watching and skipping through a little, but I haven't seen any k'd plugins yet (22:00 minutes in). Maybe that is because almost every sound is a sample from some pack.

Why do people like this guy? His shit is so basic sounding and anyone could make it. Atleast all the radio shit he collabs with people on.

He's not really an industry plant. He just got put on by skrillex, as they were friends / associates before Marshmello was a thing. It was just a rebrand (from Dotcom) that was absurdly successful. Dotcom was already moderately successful, depending on your definition of success, so its not like he was just some nobody. His networking and connections helped pave the way, but i wouldnt call him an industry plant.

I'm a uctually suprised with this, his trap electronic productions are great but the other radio shit I've heard from him is basic sounding shit. I just don't like any of his pop stuff, his country stuff I don't like either but he kills the trap shit. I have nothing against the guy seems like a solid producer just the sound just ain't my thing I guess, pop counrty etc.. I do enjoy his elecronic and trap stuff though, just not so much mainstream commercial radio tracks

Do adults like this stuff? I don't mean a drunk adult, who finds this stuff at a festival, not knowing who the producer is, and forgot that I heard it a few minutes later.. I mean sober adults, who have this stuff in their playlists.. They really exist, or is the target different? Like kids in the FL studio subreddit?
    (It's not a criticism, I'm just asking..)

"The success of this song is defined by the creative decisions surrounding the sample such as choice of singer, lyric, melody and other instrumentation like those signature Marshmellow drums and the grungy guitar..."bla bla bla, ad nauseum. This guy must talk just to hear himself talk.

The song cited is hollow, boring and mindless, hoping to vibe with a hollow, boring and mindless target audience. The mix is pro though!

Dude should support those that he takes advantage of, like those who created those Serum packs. He certainly can afford it. I bet he also uses warez.

Guy is a business man with a network and a marketing strategy.
Masses of mindless people are buying his product.

I'ts impressive that he's able to navigate the system wich such ease, that shows how much having the right friends is important.
There is a large clientele for cheap mid music with a "visual identity".

    Name is cringe.
    Costume is cringe.
    Music is hollow.
    Attitude is off putting.

I cannot imagine how you would want to see him live or listen to his music on your own.
He's not what I would consider "an artist" still, congrats to him to pull it off.
Most "good music" don't make it to mainstream.

He will certainly not go down in music history like underground acts that achieved mainstream success with extreme and polarizing music.
    Who cares he's enjoying.

You couldn't pay me enough to walk around with a yogurt pot on my head all day.
    Also, I'm not rich.
He's willing do do what it takes, to each his own ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How does he even perform live? I'm guessing uses a turntable and cues his own music and adds loops?

The trick with the mask...! He knows how to make money...!

I had to look it up on Wikipedia first, before you hang someone from a tree online again,
I hope it doesn't bother you, here are some results of the search for the truth:

Marshmello (born May 19, 1992; real name Christopher Comstock) is an American music producer and DJ
who works in the areas of future bass, trap and dubstep. He gained attention in particular through his appearance in his costume combined with the secrecy of his identity. At the beginning of his career, he also represented the future bass style, which was very popular at the time, which earned him strong support from well-known musicians such as Skrillex and Martin Garrix.

    Identity and public appearance

Marshmello's identity has not yet been confirmed by himself. At performances, in music videos and on social networks, he hides his identity under a mask. The mask, which is based on the candy marshmallow, consists of a cylindrical helmet on which a smiley face can be seen. Due to the mask, he was fundamentally anonymous for a long time.

It was assumed early on that the American DJ and producer Chris Comstock, also known as Dotcom, was behind the pseudonym. Arguments for this were that they probably had the same first name, birthday and tattoos. Most recently, producer Feed Me posted a video on Instagram in which he was wearing Marshmello's helmet while Chris Comstock accidentally pointed the camera at a mirror.[4] Regarding the anonymity, Marshmello himself said: "Just enjoy the music, don't worry about me."

In November 2017, the Scottish magazine Forbes presented Marshmello's identity as fact. In addition to the already known arguments, it was also revealed that his real name was registered with ASCAP, BMI and the Delaware State Business Registry.
