    Hello fellow musicians,

    I am in the process of planning and building a Utility Rack for DAW's. The idea is, to have an extremely simple GUI that gives you access to almost all common tasks that we as producers perform during production, both in the creative as well as the technical department. In that sense I want it to be useful for creating, but also for mixing and mastering.

    This rack should have useful functionality on single channels, groups and the master of a project.

    I want to give you a general outline of what is either already done or planned, so you know better for what advice and ideas I am looking for.

    Currently there are three functionality sections planned.

    1. Utility section
    2. Creative and Mixing section
    3. Monitoring and Output section

    Things which are included in each section:

    Utility: L/R to center swap, L/R invert, Mono Subfreq. Range, M/S balance etc.

    Creative and Mixing: Simple LP/HP Filter, Transient and Sustain Shaper, Limiter, Tilt Filter, Compressor

    Monitoring and Output: Gain Control, Multiband Monitoring (listen to certain frequencie bands), M/S/L/R Monitoring

    So, what are tasks that you perform very often that would be useful to have all in one interface? It can even be complicated things, because things would be done under the hood, so the controls on the GUI can be thought of as macros, which simplify things.

    Think of it as tool that should be on any channel and helps you in one ways or the other.

    Really hoping for suggestions

    Thank you in advance

    if you use a 19" rack mount, it will make easy to swap out gear, eqs, compessors, etc.

    @Garamondo Furbish

    Hey bud, which DAW are you using that rack in? Do you know if it's compatible with R2R's latest release of Studio One?
