Finished off an instrument shell for the Philharmonia violin samples. Thanks to Introninja for his help. It's a 1000 sample instrument with five to six velocity layers in 1/4 second, 1/2 second, 1 second and 1 1/2 second notes as well as pizzicato. Also glissando, legato, martelle, spiccato, staccato, tremolo, trill, detache, punta, talon, and tenuto phrases.

I'm back from my long working weekend where I had to interact with actual 3D humans (ack!).
Thanks for explaining more clearly than I, Introninja.
So you try it yet Phloopy what you think? As a shell and not being able to touch the samples, there are many inconsistencies I'm afraid. I actually normalize all the samples to -5 and then set all the samples in Kontakt to flat 0. This helps a lot, but of course lots of folks don't know how or don't want to normalize.
Of course if someone else wanted to redistribute the shell with the samples there would be nothing I could do about that. :dancing: I just can't do it myself.

 

On the violin front, I haven't tried Phloopy yet, but your insights on normalizing the samples in Kontakt sound like a smart workaround for those inconsistencies. It's great that you take the time to fine-tune the details.
