That's crazy good sounding. Really clean sound. Is this a software synth?

A pity this is so expensive, maybe because there's no serious alternative at the moment (Applied Acoustics, are you listening?).
Can you believe this is just 40 MB on your HD... As soon as this gets cracked, this could very well mean the end of the sample libraries we have been used to.

Physical modeling is indeed the future.

It's a physical modeling software synth, hence the small size.

I really want it, and for now I can't pay for it. Sounds awesome.

    Tried this one too! :bleh:
First impressions: there is a new model K2 (not based on any kind of real piano) but I don't like the sound (too sharp and lifeless just like the previous one, the K1  ). The overall sound of the other pianos is unchanged (I like the Bluethner and the Steinway a lot :wow: ) but there is now the possibility of choosing different mics to capture the sound (in the previous one you could only choose the position but not the type of microphone). The modeled mics are not that bad but I would add some vintage ones. There is also a new piano collection based on historical instruments: they do not belong to the KiVir project so you must pay to play them (the Bechstein and the Erard seem very interensting).
The new version is justified considered the improvements however I prefer to postpone judgement especially regarding the sound because I want to hear it on studio monitors to be 100% sure.

Hi! I agree with you, bluethner and the steinway are great ;)
But after some tests, I feel like there's a big change in some of the piano sounds between v.4 and 5. For example, take just the first one "daily practice", here are some audio files. same midi file first v4 and then v5 (pianoteq limiter disabled)
when playing, I feel like there is more "space" in v5 and I like it :grooves:

I tested it with cheap headphones! :bleh:
You are indeed right, there are some major changes in the modeling of the instruments: I feel all the keyboard range more natural in responding to higher velocities.
Now it is really worth buying. Time to resell some other piano library!
I read on the forum that the presets were also tweaked so it is not just the modeling.
