i usually have other stuff open aswell, while doing audio and man browsers are huge.
I would still think that 32GB are better and are also quite cheap to. and having enough RAM can also speed up the system.

upgrade to a ryzen 5700 might be possible and cheap?

but then you need new board for 5000MHz RAM.

i think a better ryzen maybe still give a lot of boost, while not paying a lot.

    Hey man :)
Atm prices with 5xxx series are all over the place. Cpu availability leads the prices up and down and right now we have some weird sht happening: The Ryzen 5700 appears more expensive than the 5700X, i get a price of 164eu. and 144eu respectively. Reason why i proposed the 5800X which is faster than 5700/5700X and surprisingly goes for the same price as the 5700. Only the 5600X has still a bargain price tag.
Absolutely correct. The dude who made that comment, most likely mistakenly perceived the X470 mobo mentioned in the OP for a DDR5 one which isn't the case. The sweetspot for Ryzen 5xxx and 4 ram sticks is DDR4 @ 3200mhz. The OP should have two 8gb dimms. Adding another identical two will set him back another 30-35 euros. From a "what's best overall" pov, it would be optimum to swap the existing 8gb dimms for 2x16gb @ 3600mhz. This will cost around 55 euros but will perform better and free two slots for further expansion if he wishes to engage with heavy ram instruments like Kontakt etc.
What also makes a positive difference in a system is swapping any hdds for ssds. The OP's mobo can two m.2 nvme ssds. Even cheapo ssds will perform much better. But if you are a hobbyist time saved by ssds vs hdds is of no significance, so this boils down to a matter of available budget.
Best wishes for the new year

a speed test like this example might be a good way to let others see what is up with the machine. https://www.userbenchmark.com/Software

I would hate to spend money over a single hog plugin, or other mistake. Amplitube is the first one I would look into, after increasing buffer size. You'd need a lot more info to make a perfect decision, and some actual testing. But I would also be dubious of that Focusrite and its software. Another easy fix might be a different DAW. I have not used cakewalk since before it turned into "Sonar" so I have no idea what its resources use really is in 2024. I might even reinstall an OS before buying anything to "fix it".

Superior is acting weird for me... it hits the hard drive for like, 2 minutes before loading even starts. Just started.

Anyway, on topic, Superior libraries are huge and they take a while on any system. Upgrading CPU probably would give you a bit of a speed increase but I can't see that it'll be very much really. Raw fast hard drive speed is your friend for those and gigantic Kontakt libraries.

i've tried different versions and it's the same, but the strange thing is that when i tried the 3.0.0 when it launched the loading times were a lot faster, i don't know what happened

I guess that would make sense.
You get up to 30% more performance.

    https://www.cpu-monkey.com/de/compare_cpu-amd_ryzen_5_5600x-vs-amd_ryzen_5_2600x

Given the price tag of a 5600x plus the advantage of not changing anything else I'd say it's a no-brainer.
If your upgrade makes you happy for another year it definitely pays.

PS: Don't forget to upgrade the bios before swapping the CPU.

There are 12 physical cores on 12700k and 6 on 5600x.

    A 5600x isn't expensive. Definitely worth upgrading.

Slow computer is always slow related to WEAKEST point.

Not enough RAM ? swapping RAM to disk will slow your computer like a molasse
    Slow disk ? Even slower

In my experience, CPU is not that important UNTIL you get at least 32GB of RAM and an NVME system disk.

What is your RAM usage when everything is loaded ?
What are your hard drives models AND what is on them (system, samples ...) ?

Without that point, charging all on CPU may change nothing at all ...

One should utilize the technological advances of CPU, RAM, SSD, etc. to get a smoother, faster loading computing system.

    - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6x 3.70GHz So.AM4 = 104 EUR
    - 16GB G.Skill Aegis DDR4-3200 DIMM CL16 Dual Kit = 28 EUR
    - 1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe 1.3 3D-NAND TLC (MZ-V7S1T0BW) = 87 EUR

BTW, I use Sonar. Love it. Have used Cakewalk/Sonar since it first came out in the early 90s.
    it's not at all a resource-hungry DAW.
