Thoughts?

Ive been looking into this and I must say its impressed me, I can get dubstep to at -6LUFS without this technique and I'm almost scared to think what my next few projects will come out at..

Not that i like every song to be that loud but club based music has to slap and im yet to see a more comprehensive way to do it than this aproach

If you havent heard of this and struggle loud masters its a lot to watch but it will pay you ten fold.. in your masters

its a great technique. Ive been able to achieve -4 in some neuro dnb, and even pop with vocals lol.

 

im getting a few tools that he has in use in the playlist id like to see a 2024/2025, id like to see his take on orange / gold clip and gold processing and ASH, im glad ive got Oszilla scope to see the summed peaks! that's going to help no end! I think im going to double back for the spectrum bundle as that looks very informative

im pissed Shaper boxes scope and Vision 4x's scope don't really compare

this is not the same thing at all. Clip to zero is a technique in which you clip the individual elements, busses and sub groups in stages, increasing your loudness before you even hit the master.

 

Orange and Gold clip are nothing special. Neither is Ash really. Although Ash does have all of the different curves. I use K-clip, Newfangled, and Ash. K-clip is awesome, the MB and dry wet really helps. Newfangled is excellent. Ash can at times sound better than the others, i'll use it more on busses or "important" elements, something like the main synth or vocal or whatever.

 

I Have standard clip and for that range of clip I cant justify why id get that also, I have gold clip so didn't see the need for ash and orange for the sound it can give to drums, that being said I just got saturate smh lol, Ill reconsider K clip but damn I don't think I can justify it lol

 

I work this way a lot of time. Main problem - you cannot have mixbus glue compression, because it's rebuild peaks. Or whole mix EQ tweaks...same stuff. Sometimes you don't want to EQ individual tracks, and EQ whole thing for creative purposes. So CTZ became a problem with this IF(!!!) you use it stricly for keeping your headroom under a digital zero. And ways that Baphometrix show for ducking is usefull only for EDM.
Ducking whole thing under kick and snare hits will be obvious on good monitoring even if you super precisely tweak ducking volume envelope.
RMSC - is the way to go!

I used the Gold/Orange clippers each for a month, and I liked them but not enough to buy them for what they are charging. I thought the Gold clip was nicer for harder clipping more "digital" tracks and the Orange for softer clipping on tracks with more organic sounds. I do that same thing with the slope of low cut filters. I use a slower rolloff for more organic sounds and steeper slope for more clean/digital tracks.

Both are very nice but for $200, no way. In those Baphometrix tutorials, he suggests using DMG Limitless quite a few times. I prefer Kclip3 typically, but the most recent update GUI went in a direction I'm still not sure I like.

 

At a different point in my life I would have chosen far more colourful words than those but due being in a position where my overheads are relatively low at the minute I have fallen victim to greed.. this past year I have felt more like a plugin collector than anything else.. im getting my last few in as im starting a fresh for the new year to buckle down on techniques like this sound design.. that said ive bought K clip3 today for the MB functions... and it only costing 25 pound.. Will power aye..

to you point I was of the same thinking till I heard the gold processing and the fact it was on sale and was rent to own, a part of me is annoyed I got it over ASH as I have recently been on AA splash over the sales and could have worked out cheaper but my current excuse is if im to do well with this technique it doest hurt to have different flavours, as currently I nearly have them all

 

Fuse Audio Ocelot has a little soft clipper, so does the Elysia Alpha Master. The BX_clipper is nice enough, and for something very small and fast to use; the Black Salt Audio clipper is sometimes useful. Voxengo OVC-128 is another small "utility" style clipper.

When you get to testing Kclip3, there is a short CTZ-oriented overview of it that can be helpful in 2 minutes it takes to watch. Monitoring just the delta really helps to hear when you are only just shaving with it. Most of the time I use it, I am shooting for barely audible changes.

 

Yes I use this for 2 years because I mix and master completely in the box. And it will not work if you are using outside anlong gears . It is completely for who mix and master completely in the box. He also has doc link in video description and I printed it in A4 sheet and refer when needed.

 

im on part 7 and I think ill take advantage of the doc swell!, its going to take a little time adjusting it to logic in my mind, I have lots of questions which im not going to to spill till ive watched it all and had a break lol

 

this is not true. you can use analog gear and still clip to zero.

Which clipper do you guys mostly use on bass? Live DI/Synth.

 

You just have to take note of the LUFS of the signal before sending it out - then decrease it to an optimal level for doing so. After you decrease the signal and process it, you would then set the LUFs to that original level.

 

im like on vid 11 now and im struggling to understand how the levels of the tracks are mixed? am I loosing grip on reality here? lol
