There's a lot one can do to manage, edit and generally hack your kontakt libraries and where they appear in the library browser.

Here's my list of tips and various useful Kontakt folder locations for editing

Adding images for 3rd party / custom libraries

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\NI Resources\image

    - this is where you create folders for MST_artwork.png files which create the tiles for third party libraries in the libraries browser

    Registering Libraries

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Service Center

    - this is where you find the NativeAccess.xml file to modify by adding an entry for a library when creating a library via nicnt. Your nicnt however you generate it, needs to have a unique UIPD and SNPID which match the entry in NativeAccess.xml

    Adding Snapshots to libraries:

    Snapshot locations either:

    C:\Users\<YOUR_USER>\Documents\Native Instruments\User Content\Kontakt
    OR

    C:\Users\<YOUR_USER>\Documents\Native Instruments\User Content

Sometimes presets for libraries need to go in this second location, rather than the snapshot location that opens up from the instrument when you select the wrench icon

And for some libraries (e.g. Sample Logic Arpology) the presets need to go here for kontakt 7:

    C:\Users\<YOUR_USER>\Documents\Native Instruments\Kontakt 7\

and here for earlier kontakt versions:

    C:\Users\<YOUR_USER>\Documents\Native Instruments\Kontakt

    Removing Libraries

If you're on windows, sometimes you may need edit or remove windows registry entries to successfully load up new libraries. This will be found under

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Native Instruments
    and
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments

and you might need to remove both entries to remove a library (e.g. before reimporting it).

    Tags?

All good. Now the kicker - does anyone know how to remove Kontakt Library Product tags? Where are these stored? Are they hackable?

    cheers

Apparently one more piece of the puzzle is to delete .json files after the regedit changes

    Nice info
Not that important, but there's this second folder for images Kontakt installs it as well. It could be one of this two, depending of your choice of folders:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt 7\PAResources\image
    C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt 7\PAResources\image

This has the same kind of images and stuff than:

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\NI Resources\image

But once created with some images for certain libraries (Abbey Road for instance) it's forgotten the libraries you add go to the latter.
I only mention it so people don't mistake it for the "good" one.

Also, this is a pain the ass, but I hate my "user snapshots" not being located in the same library folder. So I copy sometimes the ones from the folders @freq451 well said to the folder of the libraries factory snapshots.

    Hey Talula!

The kontakt library tags appear in the instrument browser(see the linked image below)

In the pic above I've underlined the tags, and circled the ones I still have left from previous installs they I can't clean up (still). If when you use the settings cog wheel from the instrument browser to install a library and library path contains characters like '.' or '!' etc or when install then rename or shift the folder, you can end up with leftover library tags that don't get cleaned up when you uninstall or remove the library via the registry. Still haven't figured out how to get rid these "offending" tags...
