I like REAPER because it follows the same mindset as Linux.
    • It's more technologically advanced than the rest (ARA, LV2 support out of the box, FLAC was supported since its inception, whereas the popular choices were stuck with WAV and maybe MP3s)
    • It's lightweight, no flashy GUI elements, or nothing that would tax resources. A perfect tool for its job.
    • No stupid copy protections
    • Every single element is customizable
    • Its features extends beyond "just a DAW". It even supports limited video editing and batch processing.
    • Comes with a native version for Linux (out of 3 DAWs on the market, the rest is stuck).
However, as pointed out, it requires initial setup and quite some tweaking to get going. Still it's worth it in the end.

The main reason for the small size of this software is that this software is like a car that only has an engine and no shell. The creators of this DAW have not worked much on the internal plugins of this software and have focused more on its settings and control. Maybe they will add plugins to it in the future, but it seems unlikely. This software relies a lot on third party plugins and without them it is not very effective. Probably the creators of this software are old Linux users. Because Linux also has this situation. The operating system where most of the installed programs lack GUI and ELEGANCE.

Are you a troll or something?
It doesn't matter what DAW you use.

Wrong again. Why loose time on something thats already done by an army of commercial and free plugin developers. Master one main thing you are good at if all others are covered anyways.
And all generic plugins any Daw needs come with Reaper. Reaper Script User library has much much more unique stuff.

REAPER (Rapid Environment for Audio Production, Engineering and Recording)

The Reaper DAW is enjoying an ever-growing user community. It is what it is, they have really created something great, flexible and innovative, which represents a great alternative to the current DAW market for musicians worldwide. In short, it is needed and used.

Yep, the first usable mp3 player. A mega-classic. And many of its DSP and GUI skills ended in Reaper.
Man, great one. Didn't know the term and fits him like a glove.

Shut up already troll. You pretend to not understand FUNCTION over FORM and question it. Wtf is this, amateur hour? Enough is enough, this joke's become sour now. Every argument you 've raised so far is fundamentally false. Trying to disguise as one who wants to know what other people think, will not help your mental case not one bit, as you are the same Foster as always. It is a miracle you get people to answer your pathetic -on purpose childish- arguments when they should press ignore on your ass and be done with your miserable digital existence.
Oh i know let's make a beauty contest of DAWs... It's exactly where even my atheist mates will go facepalm "oh Lord" hahaha.
You don't like Reaper, go play with your dolls and stop busting our chops. And i say dolls because i seriously doubt you make any music whatsoever. Neeeext.

For a hobby-tool the important aspects for professional use simply do not matter:

Features: it does not really matter what and if. It's all about how: for a professional user it's all about the efficiency of the workflow (how much time, how many mouseclicks).
If you're working as a mixer, depending on the client, it could be very important to be able able to load PT sessions.
As a producer you have a bit more freedom.

Therefore I can only warn, if you have serious ambitions, to take claims like "Oppenheimer was done in Ableton" as a reflection of reality.
Again, it's all about the details in the production process, that matter: what exactly was done in Ableton and how was the collaboration and synchronization in the daily work progress kept up and achieved?
Was Ableton really used in the daily/weekly update process or was it used for the basic composition process?

Without knowing the details it's dangerous to make conclusions about choosing the most important tool.

a long way to go to state that indeed the universe is hierarchical and will self segregate into clumps of varying status, but all very true and a great observation.

    First their was only darkness
then there came the light and the darkness was split
and then there came reaper and many ears smiled..
