Now that there is already the first crack of N5 by VR, this is of course all water under the bridge. With the VR version, old expansions are shown in the N5 preset browser and can also be used if they are copied to the correct path.

But think about it: no one would invest anymore time in programming a great synth if we were all just copying.

I see it as the necessary test version that reFX forgot to deliver.
No demo version isn't that good of an idea IMHO

Yeah that was my state of knowledge as well that's why I asked

it is always about money, creating a demo would cost money.

Besides that ReFX is quite arrogant when it comes to support, they doen't even have a contact email on their homepage which would be illegal in EU

You are wrong, it is the R2R and V.R teams and others who download it and turn a trial into a full version.

UVI - Falcon only had videos to listen to back then, but no demo version to test.
Yes, of course it is about money, the companies have to cover their own costs and make a profit.

Arturia had a cardboard box with a multilingual manual, a plastic customer card and of course the CD ROM with the software. Today there is only a download and if you are lucky the manual is in PDF format. With reFX everything is only virtual and the online manual is incomplete. But many other companies have exactly this rationalization / cost avoidance business concept.

I don't think they are arrogant, because after all we buyers pay their salary. With Native Instruments it is actually worse. If you buy it you also have contact options and the right to updates and bug fixes. Remember that reFX is a small company with few products. If you have money, support this company if you like their products.

If you use cracked software, don't tell anyone and please keep quiet.

 

A simple time dependent demo doesn't cost money because it's already part of most intallation packages like Installshield.
IDK why they don't deliver one- I think they're just too scared of cracking.
but you know ... it makes just no sense anymore. Sometimes one gets the crack of his legit bought software earlier than the original.
That's why I've often said on AS: Copy protection prevents loyal customers in particular from using their software.

I read that again and again, but I have experienced it differently:
I had a few minor problems and to be honest I also asked a few stupid questions that I could have answered myself if I had thought better. I always received a competent answer within 24 hours and always with a few friendly words.
OK, no direct mail-contact but a functional ticket system

p.s.: They are in Canada. We have quite a time difference to Europe. You have to take that into account for reaction times. It's a small company with 6 people, so support doesn't run 24/7

What do you want with a demo when there is VR!!!!

 

yes. try to email them. you need to register an account to ask presales questions. (1st annoyance)
If you then ask uncomfortable questions, for example "why is there no demo" , I ve got harsh answers. It went so far that they simply closed a ticket without any further answers, that what I call arrogant

p.s.: I've been an application programmer back in the days (some 20 years ago). And I can say it was a pain to deal with customers or demo users sometimes. They made some bullshit and claimed the opposite. I would have wished for a firewall against it back then too i must confess.
But a demo is a must if you have no money-back-guarantee. With the auth systems of today (deauth over the web) this would no real problem btw..

 

Yes.. you can import the Nexus 2 3rd party plugins...but it causes Nexus 5 to lag a little bit. I have a lot of Nexus 2 plugins and don't want to lose them. I will update if I find a work around.

 

I had a problem with 1&1 Internet AG in Germany. i booked an internet connection and it was promised for a certain date. i canceled the old one. The appointment came and went without an internet connection. Three weeks later still no net but money taken from my account and every day their support said they would take care of it. bla bla bla.
Monday fourth week I made a little bot firing every 10 sec. with a complaint to the board of directors via web form and an email also to the board of directors.
On Tuesday they threatened me with a lawyer. haha. Wednesday the internet connection was running. Yes, somtimes it pays out to behave like an asshole.

No preview sound for downloaded Expansions?​

For those on N5 VR who want to use downloaded Xpansions from the internet:
Sometimes (or always IDK) those Xpansions don't give a preview sound in Nexus 5

Easys solution:
One of the directories you copy to the Nexus Content path is called NKS
Inside the NKS directory in the directory for a given Xpansion (e.g. ..\reFX\NEXUS library\NKS\XP Drum and Bass 2\) there is a subdirectory called "previews"
Rename it to ".previews" and restart the plugin
Preview sound is back

In this case I would delete the content of the Expansions to be deleted inside the subdirectories NKS, Presets and Samples as well. So there are no leftovers...
