Why did he kill her?

 

Everyone's always focused on the killing (which, as you heard in the song, he had to do,) but no one ever focuses on what a sweet sentiment it is that he kept her in his backyard—that's how much he loved her. Let me ask you this, when you kill someone, do you bury them in your backyard? Course you don't, you turn them into a tarped-up human burrito à la Dexter and toss them in the nearest body of water. weighted down with that steel monstrosity of art nouveau that your mother left you in her will that's taking up space in your house where your dual rectifier could be sitting. I mean, ameyerite? ... That's what I thought. What he did was romantic. Take it for what it is.

I've had a rough couple months so that chunk of text that fell out my head can be blamed on long periods of little sleep. No doubt law enforcement is analyzing my profile, cross-referencing it with any bodies that might have been found weighted down with ugly-ass art sculptures; I'm counting on that number being zero... damn, maybe in San Fransisco tho? That place is rife with unwanted "artistic" excretions.

i hate November Rain. It was the start of the whiney little bitch movement. That carries through to today. Grunge, NuMetal, Poppy Pussy Punk, Oh Poor Me hard and heavy rock, etc. etc. Axl is a twat.

• We used two Emulator III samplers, an Emulator II, lot of samples by Northstar, some custom samples. Axl played the parts of the orchestra live to tape for the most part. Amazing, intense, couple of weeks. Everything was tracked straight to two Sony 48 track digital recorders. We tracked through the Neve console, preamp only. We had a Yamaha Rev 7 as a comfort reverb for the band, although never on the orchestration. Funny story on that - at the end we were using MOTU Performer to do the arpeggiated marimbas. Axl loved to watch the musical notation in real time. He said "turn on the notes!" That was too much bandwidth for a 1990's mac to handle. So it froze into that drone at the end of the song. The engineer, Jim Mitchell, turned around to look wide eyed at us, as if to say "don't touch a thing!" as he slowly pulled down the master fader. Chills went down our spine as we came to realize - the orchestra was done. My favorite moment followed just after. Bruce Springsteen was tracking in Studio B at Record Plant Hollywood across the hall. Axl invited him in for the first playback. So I got to sit between Axl and the Boss to hear it down. Bruce requested a second playback. After Mike Clink returned from his honeymoon (those two weeks) I did all of the sound effects on the Emulators. We used the Emulators on My World, Axl played the Minimoog bass on that one. One of my favorite programming/playing sessions ever. BTW originally Jeff Lynne (ELO) turned the session down, so I got a phone call at 3:00 am, when I was tracking another session in Hollywood to go the electronic orchestra route.
