What is the full name of your mainboard? ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING?

The manufacturer states on its "CPU Support" website that its processor "AMD Ryzen 9 5950X" is supported. So it will work perfectly on your mainboard. Ryzen 9 5950X (Vermeer) (3.4GHz,105W,L3:64M,16C) https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-f-gaming-model/helpdesk_cpu/

Save your money - you don't need another mainboard, the bit of performance provided by the recommended x570 board is minimal and has very little influence on performance, and is often overrated.

Have fun with your new CPU, buy a good thermal paste and use a very good CPU cooler.

Yeah just wanna chip in and confirm what Radio has said. Your mobo will support the 5950X. The only benefit you'd get from X570 is extra I/O and PCIe lanes. Only you know if you need those things and if you're happy with what you've got currently you'll be fine.

You can find a comparison here: https://www.fiercepc.co.uk/blog/hardware/b550-vs-x570

just make sure to upgrade BIOS to latest version before you do any upgrades, you'll save yourself some headaches,
also do check local used market to decide whether you want to sell your CPU, or if you'd get better deal selling CPU+mobo, in which case you'd be free to buy a fancier mobo anyway eventually

Check if you need the bios update first
AND reaffirm you can do the update with what you have:wink:

Just a small note, if it gets too hot with the new CPU, there is also the Dark Rock Pro 5, which also has two fans and weighs 1.29 KG.
