It's a totally different approach where i had control over all compositional expressions. it is a work built from the ground up. lyrics came easily when its a feeling that dwells inside you for decades and it has connotations that are memory triggers from the painting. I wanted to sing it, but the gravitas was not there, so I procured the services of someone reading with a world weary deep voice reflecting that the youthful experience lived only in my memory.

@emmapeel Really like the ambiance, it feels far away, suspended in time. The granulizer effect and some notes intimating how wrong it's turning on... The overall feeling reminded me of Bajie's story in The Journey to the West. Or at least how they adapted it in the 4th chapter cutscene of Black Myth Wukong. It feels very much in this month theme !

I'm beginning to record today and hope to post the result before the deadline, or in the case of my song for #6, the line of death. :woot:

    Hi everyone,

For my submission to Non-Contest #6, I’ve taken an experimental approach that combines symbolism, atmosphere, and minimalism.

The track is built on a 66.66 BPM tempo—a number chosen for its hypnotic, almost symbolic resonance. It’s structured in 3/4 time, evoking the cyclical, intimate rhythm of a heartbeat, while maintaining a waltz-like flow.

Inspired by the French version of "Love in the Afternoon" (1957) with Gary Cooper and Audrey Hepburn, I aimed to reflect the emotional tension and vulnerability of the film. The visual and storytelling elements from the movie deeply influenced the tone of this piece.

For the first time, I used the Behringer Crave to design the bassline. Its analog sound gave the track warmth and texture, creating a grounding, pulse-like foundation. The bass progresses through notes like G2, B2, and A2 with slight variations, keeping it dynamic yet cohesive.

The track was also inspired by an image of a woman surrounded by deep red roses—its mix of beauty and melancholy mirrors the contrasts I’ve tried to capture musically.

Would love your feedback on the vibe and any ideas for enhancing the track further!

    Cheers,
    John Musichead

@johnmusichead .. Hypnotic and seductive is how I'd describe your piece. Great work!

I really love how everyone translates their creativity in a vastly different language. It's like living in musical Babel.

Hello Everyone! I'm back, call me foster, but I still am in. This time, because i had to pull the song at a certain point, I'm posting the original Diamond Girl as it should have been...
and I've added my number two track, which was really the first track I did... Dream Girl.

@Lois Lane agree 100 percent hearing all of the different sonic beings is a beautiful experience.

Most women(a big chunk) dance with the dark sprits unknowingly, like the jezibel and so on, ego trip of some sorts.. which gives them ability to read minds specially if they see the man wanting to get crushed, they lust for making one more man "suffer" like "they suffer", but all in all dude who sleeps like that is on a rough road(the picture).

Woman like power, not all ofc but those who neglect the mother aspect and start roaming around. In the old age it starts crushing it down real hard, so dont be that under the spell of the "warm pocket", sit and watch body rushes animal hormones and take control because there´s nothing there, only lust. Boring lust, boring seduction and boring everything else.

The real dance is when you find a good counterpart and like the two birds, never stop dancing with each other.

Ask questions and the truth will set you free. No other way to get to the stars.

@reticular : yo i mean, i understand it better at this point from their perspective now. im not easy to be in a relationship with, im like the most unavailable partner because of my career in music, with a lot of options in regards to women. im uncontrollably moody and fame makes dating me more complicated then it normally would be for them. music always comes before them, i also need a lot of alone time - its very easy for a women to not feel like theyre in a secure place dating or being in a relationship me. the leverage they do have that keeps my attention, they use it

i cant fault them for that tho, i mean i love sex and i love women. ive found what i use to think would be my dream girl before i was famous multiple times now and that feeling of infatuation is magical. in the end im not trying to start a family, or get married though, thats never been a goal of mine. i didnt work this hard and spend years trying to get to where i am; to start conforming to someone elses goals regarding life: but thats what a lot of women want from me and think they can change in me, that creates that dynamic between us and where a lot of women start trying to manipulate me through sex, i mean its smart. i never playa hate, just had to learn that part of the game and myself more

My song for #6 tackles toxic female power, and it's not the first time, LOL. This one is a murder song in which the narrator of the piece is the one killed, a man who flees for his very life only to be tracked down 30 years later and brutally killed on Christmas Day ('Tis the season to be jolly ). Depending on a few factors I'll drop either the wham bam thank you ma'am no frills version later or add accouterments like some harmony and a flourish with e-guitar here and there but I think the version now stands on its own and certainly gets my point across. There's what I call 'The Lament" which I couldn't make time to record yesterday and which is a description of how and where they find his body on Christmas day. I need to huddle with my Muse and ask her opinion on the matter as it might be overboard though I think it quite clever.

    Later for you, boys.

There's a problem with this site and Cloudflaire is popping up!

I opted for the PG version but will tack on the alternate Lament in the near future and post it separately to those that wish to embrace the horror of the crime.

    Clementine, Thorn Of The Rose

She will never let you forget her
As a gift will leave a scar, one or two
Your eyes blinded by the light of her full moon
Enjoin the pain...Clementine's in love with you

Manic spinning round and round in a circle
Screaming madly, "I'm the thorn of the rose"
Just when you're thinking that it's safe to pop your head out
You're sucker punched and now your bleeding from the nose

    Chorus
I'm primed for leaving town, otherwise I'm going down
Leaving town today, not too proud to walk away
Something deep inside of Clementine has died
Yea, I'm leaving town today, not to proud to walk away
    ...or even run

I put thirty years and many miles between us
Grew a beard and even changed my name
Fiddled with my accent from the way it used to be
Now no longer was my very soul to claim
Then one day to my surprise when I first opened up my eyes
There was Clementine staring down at me
In her hand her favorite knife, she said "I'm still your wife
Till death unto we part, now say goodbye my sweetie-heart"

@Lois Lane : lol, great job homie, those lyrics are funny as shit, when i first read. "Enjoin the pain...Clementine's in love with you" i busted out laughing, hilarious way to end that verse - but the song doesnt come across as silly, its lighthearted but the performances are quality and it has like more noticeable twang stylistically than usual for you; that i honestly dig

nice interpretation and idk if you took the thanksgiving tradition over to europe with you but if so, i hope you had a good holidays. definitely send me the R rated version

Thanks for cool reply. I thought that you'd get it, making lite of a grim situation, imagining that it might resonate with your particular issue with "gold digging" individuals.

I pulled out a freaky tuning of E C# F# B C# E by using two partial three string capoes on the second and fourth frets. For both acoustic guitar tracks I used the same D-18 where in every time I'll choose to use different guitars. I varied the mic placement of the Beyerdynamic m930 for the slightly different tones. The Audioscape Opto compressor is the vocal sound. I'm loving that box!

As soon as I record The Lament I'll give you a link!

PS...didn't celebrate Thanksgiving but made a bunch of phone calls to family wishing them a good time. I hope that you enjoyed the day!

This is really nice. It reminds me of Blind Melon ... folky classic rock, but somehow in a 90s vibe. The D-18 sounds nice here (my plan is to buy the D-28 some time in near future), but what really shines here sonically are the vocals in my opinion. I like the overall roomy feeling, vocals are a big part of that. :)

@9ty .. Thanks for your kind words. I definately could see where your coming from with Blind Melon and their song that I'm familiar with, No Rain. It's got a walk‐ie kind of guitar thing going on in the direction of what I'm doing on Clementine. I totally hear it. My people are from Appalachia and every once in a while channel that old mountain vibe.

I played all the new D‐18 guitars in Switzerland before deciding on this one. Finally after a time the owner of a store not too far from me went to the distributor on my behalf, played the 15 or so of the D‐18s in his stock and thought that this one was the winner. It was...and is. I also played lots of D-28s and even the few 28V were lacking. It pays to check out as many as you can unless you get lucky and you early find a killer example.

    Have a great Sunday!

    @Aidene .. :shalom:
