Is there a software that you can import a recorded Drum track and it export an exact midi file? …..Toontrack will almost do it but doesn’t include drum rolls or the dynamics

Melodyne is the most accurate audio to midi note/hit detection. It is polyphonic detection also. You can also clean the file up first. Fuse Audio Labs DrumsSSX can split drums into "stems", but it is an effect processor; not an offline separation tool. That means you have to bounce through it.

I've been searching for that a lot. Check out this thread. The best detector I found is apptrigga, but it's a live retrigger, it doesn't spit out MIDI — which is a shame, because it can dectect fine details in drum fills and all. I think XLN Addictive Trigger exports MIDI, but I haven't tested it yet.

one of the oldest exactly for this kind of operation is proppelerhead RECYCLE
i think it still floats around as a portable app
it was conceived to feed rex files (like acidiced files) to drRex now octoRex
wav file with imprinted Time-Slice +midi able WAV files
it's a format most daws can read
you can output slices+midi in a folder
or intakt wav with time info imbedded

    eddit:
    oh its still available @reason
    and on ss:mates:

you might want to run the audio track through bit of drum pre-processing like Melda MDrumLeveler, and then do the conversion to MIDI easier

Recycle does not do audio to midi conversion. it uses hitpoint detection to create markers and slices. It will export a Midi file, but that MIDI file will only trigger the slices so the sample playback is the same as the sample. It also cannot separate hits which are layered on top of one another. So your slice will have multiple hits stacked into the individual slice sample.

Each slice is mapped to the piano roll, and triggered in ascending order. It will not place every kick drum on C1 key, as an example. When you see a recycle file chopped and Midi file created, the Midi note data will always be ascending up the keyboard. You have to edit the Midi data into the pattern you want. Audio to Midi is not hitpoint detection.

If you want to do this in a more "Recycle style" way, I would try using Serato Sample 2. It both splits stems from audio, and does similar hitpoint detection. So does Logic Drum Machine Designer.

There was a new one posted on the sister site the other day, haven't tried it yet but thought I'd throw it in the mix: Navie D noteGRABBER
Please keep us up to date and let us know if you do find something that does it

    Melodyne is good at polyphony.
For drums, using integrated DAW tools will give you a good result.

    Something like this :
