In the old versions of Kontakt, it was possible to convert nki format to other formats, but with the passage of time and the introduction of new versions of Kontakt, this possibility was almost completely lost.

Is there a way to convert newer encrypted nki to other formats like sfz? Is R2R or any other team able to decode the encrypted nki format?

Kontakt is a slow sampler and takes up a lot of memory space, and if the formats used in Kontakt can be converted to other formats with acceptable accuracy, it is possible to provide more speed for working with samples. I am not sure, but I think Kontakt has been written in Java and Java is slower than C++.

It is really a pity. Many sections of Kontakt are not useful and only those sections that manage samples are used.
Even Kontakt scripts are not used much. It is really annoying that users have to endure this heavy tool for years. If the internal formats of this giant tool can be mapped to other formats, the speed and ease of work will increase. Unfortunately, there is no other free and powerful sampler that works like Kontakt and everyone has to have a copy of this old tool on their computers.

Errr, they are actually used constantly. Almost every discrete Kontakt library that actually functions as a different instrument is using the Kontakt Script Processor which is unique to NI's Kontakt since day one. And if you ever messed with it you 'd know code syntax logic resembles Pascal somehow but commands (although listed), they are different. It's a pain in the ass but usable if you are willing to endure some "torture porn SAW like" experience haha.
Definitely not heavy. Beastly yes. Surely it could benefit a ton from an complete re-write but that could be a nightmare for backwards compatibility.
What you are looking for is actually a way for other platforms like Falcon perhaps, to convert or import Kontakt libraries. Never say never can be true, but i don't see this happening anytime soon. As mentioned Kontakt makes use of NI's own proprietary KSP. UVI uses the most common LUA for their Falcon scripting. I don't see any correlation between the two. And although Falcon is a fully featured hybrid sampler/synth instrument with a much more modern GUI in general, Kontakt's strength is mainly in the multitude of libraries/instruments around.
Not to sound patronizing, but if you find it mandatory but heavy perhaps it's time for a new computer?
    Cheers

i agree i find it hogs the CPU! but they say its industry standard to buy Komplete! But iv'e only used it for samples or recording from it.There's plenty other samplers out there which do the job.[UVI/TAL/TX16W/HALION/ etc..

sfz only has very basic scripting support and only comes with 4 effects. Anything more complex than a trivial keyboard/drum machine sampler can't be translated from Kontakt to sfz all that well. Re-saving your NKI to wav samples and then building your own sfz instrument from those might be an option though.

Samplers and DAWs are the most important tools of digital production. It is really worrying that there is no powerful free sampler and no powerful free DAW.
These two instruments are the foundation of all music that is made in a modern way. The coders of all these tools may be less than 50 people, and absit omen, if something happens to one of them and they lose their lives, the whole digital music production process will face many risks.

sfz does not have many features, but it is the most convenient format for editing and creating libraries.
In addition, many professional features of Kontakt are not used by many users.
If you can find a way to automatically convert Kontakt sample libraries to sfz format, many other samplers can easily use Kontakt libraries.
The effects and scripted settings in Kontakt are often unnecessary and only takes up CPU and RAM.
Unfortunately manual conversion of kontakt libraries to sfz format is very time-consuming. Therefore, the existence of converter tools that can read encrypted format makes the work very easy.

Maybe it's time for R2R to produce a powerful, free and fast sampler for the music world that reads other samplers' libraries.:beg:
