Just Curious. No bad intentions. R2RINET.dll What is this new dll file R2R is putting inside system32 dir? Pretty sure it's safe. Just never seen before. Noticed it in few recent release. ex- Minimal Audio, pitch innovations, Sonic academy...
to emulate fake HTTP protocols / server/internet when using Minimal Audio for example, it "replaces" the wininet.dll
Cool. I remember, in one of release info R2R had mentioned to not put anything in system folders. Suddenly this new thing came up for multiple plugins from different vendors. So just was curious. All good.
Yes all good, i agree with you, and at least they could tell us that in nfo. Or something along those lines...
I believe back then R2R was referring to and criticising the Team V.R's practice of directly modifying system files. R2R isn't modified any system file here. This is just emulation to deceive the vsts. It won't affect your system in any way, as no program other than than these vsts knows its existence.
TEAM R2R have said not to delete/replace nothing from system folder, file like "VCRUNTIME140_1.dll" since their latest software is using their custom dll instead of the original one system file for registration of the software and you meaning of that maybe. As for not putting nothing in system folder, well they have been said multiple times that they are not messing with original system files unlike some groups, but again they have in there their Kawa eLicenser emulator for older Arturia releases which is a must, therefore when is a must, then that behavior cant be avoided and again they are notifying users. Still you have to get your software from reliable sources like the sister site, because there is an easy way that somewhere else you can catch a malware with similar looking release. I've tested both Arturia and kiloHearts plugins provided by V.R (inside virtual machine + install monitor software) => no modified system files (perhaps for other plugin brands, IDK, or... it's an urban legend). Last edited: Nov 16, 2024 at 8:18 AM
What makes you think I use them? I am just bringing this in public awareness. I am sure most of them installed it and didn't even know about it. I know R2R is worshiped here and on sister site because we are getting 1000s of dollars of software for free. Because of R2R's harsh feedback, other teams have paused their releases. And we are left with no other options. And now this. Something to think about....
