hi, i clicked on update plugin info on vst plugin manager, in cubase 14,once it starts scanning waves it asks for location of waves shell 13.1 folder, i click on cancel( as i have waves 15 installed) it then proceeds to ask for waves shell 14 folder,i click on cancel it moves on then crashes(completley closes)
    any clues?
i done a search for waves shell 13 but dont seem to have it on my pc. i have the 15 folder ok.

There are leftover files from the previous installation somewhere, go through the list below carefully, delete those files and then restart your PC and then install the new version. If you don't find a wave file, it has already been deleted.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves
    C:\Users\Public\Waves Audio
    C:\ProgramData\Waves Audio

    (Hidden Folder)
    C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Waves Audio
    C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Waves Audio

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
    WaveShell1-VST3 15.0_x64.vst3
    WaveShell1-VST3 15.2_x64.vst3
    WaveShell2-VST3 15.0_x64.vst3

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\WPAPI

Scan your hard drive with the term: WaveShell and delete them.

Go to the Registry --> Run --> Regedit and delete the following folder: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Waves

First do: " Re-setting the Cubase plug-ins cache manually "
If you are still asked for Waveshell13, there are probably still leftover files on your PC.

Of course you can use Revo, but to be on the safe side you should go through all folders and delete " All Waves files & Waveshell " manually (as stated in the list above).

Better of course is to uninstall Waves completely, delete unnecessary data with a registry cleaner like Ccleaner and restart the PC and reinstall Waves and then rescan the plugins.

ok so seem to have got rid of the looking waves shell 13 and 14.
but when i go into plugin manager, and click on the update information for all plugins it crashes cubase after scanning a few
is it possible avx processor required?
some of the plugins load(quite a lot) some freeze cubase without loading, perhaps the ones that arent scanning

AVX support is required ---> You would have to install a much older version of Waves.
Waves v13 support AMD Quad Core

Try this, it is what I have to do for Toontrack, Waves, Arturia for some reason to get them to work
Go to C: \ ProgramData \ Waves Audio and right click Waves Audio then click Properties
Click on [Security] Tab at top and click [Edit...]
Click [Add...] and type everyone and then click [Check Names] and click OK
tick Full control (and Modify if it does not select it automatically) and click Apply and OK and (Apply) and OK
and start Cubase again and see if Waves are there now.

any way of finding out which of the plugs in 15 require avx?
a lot of the plugs do work in my system, must be the ones that need avx are causing cubase to crash when i click update plugin info
i could delete manually the ones that arent supported.

You could do that. You should then test the other plugins for stability and functionality.

it's just some of the newest/new-ish plugins. All the old school Waves plugins from before v14 should work ok. Some seem to have VX as part of the plugin name. Clarity VX and VX Pro.

You could always use Waves Central installer and some process of elimination, maybe adding a few at a time.

The waves central installing scenario, can't be done with latest r2r download, can it? Don't recall seeing that method for long time

No, with R2R you have to install everything completely.
You have to use Team V.R because you can choose what you want to install in Waves Central beforehand.

Release info definitely is helpful. But if you do use R2R and install all, can't you just go find the .bundle file where Waves hides each versions worth of plugins after they are installed? On Mac they do not seem to install as "individual" plugins (for the user); they are installed inside a .bundle which is a container for each version worth of plugins. You can get rid of whatever you want, even if it doesn't appear that way. You just need to locate the container where they do exist.

Short of that, you can always just blacklist/disable the ones you don't want to accidentally load in your DAW plugin manager. And another option still is just to install the last version where you know everything will work. Many of their plugins never even change from version to version.

In Windows and Mac you can also uninstall individual plugins, see the following instructions from Waves:

    Uninstall unused individual plugins manually:

    1. Quit all audio apps.
    2. Navigate to the relevant plugin version folder:
      • Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\Plug-Ins V15, (or whichever version is installed on your device, V14-V9).
      • Mac: Macintosh HD > Applications > Waves > Plug-Ins V15, (or whichever version is installed on your device, V14-V9).
    3. The plugin file you wish to remove will be named after the plugin, in this format: [PluginName].bundle. For example, the plugin file for Reel ADT will be named Reel ADT.bundle.
    4. Delete the plugin file/s you wish to remove (or move to a backup folder).
    5. Clear Waves preferences:
      Windows:
      1. Press [Win Key]+ ‘R’, and type %appdata% in the 'Run' menu, click Enter.
      2. Delete the Waves folder inside the 'Roaming' folder that appears.
    Mac:
    1. In Finder, click on the Go menu at the top, hold the [Alt/Option] key on your keyboard and press Library.
    2. Go to the Preferences folder and delete the Waves Preferences folder.
