I have Omnisphere 2.5 installed from around 2018/2019 and it works flawlessly however now I need to update to Omnisphere 2.8 so I can use Sonic extensions. I'm just afraid that something goes wrong and the plugin starts giving me issues seeing that currently it works perfectly and I use it on every beat so it'd be a huge inconvinience. Is the process as simple as just downloading the 2.8 update from sister site, running the installer and then replacing the AU/VST components in the Audio/Plug-ins folder? If I recall correctly that's how it was updating from 2.2 to 2.5 but like I said this was back in 2018 so I'm not really sure if I'm recalling correctly lol.

 

In the situation you describe with it being very important, I would do a Time Machine backup first. Any other software and I would just roll the dice. People have special capabilities when it comes to screwing up Omnisphere installation.

 

It is indeed that simple: just follow instructions and it will work like a charm! Maybe you'll have to use the keygen to verify the vst/au plugins (I'm on Mac so I recall needing to do that) and you're good to go. I work with Omnisphere on a daily bases and it works flawless

 

indeed!! I did it and it was that simple. No Keygen since I used Moria download. I did need to use Keygen for my original install back in 2018 but the update (Moria) was already patched.

It should be easy, especially just updating. But when the initial install goes sideways on them, they keep trying other stuff. Mixing releases and keygens. It can get difficult to unravel. I want to say the number 1 thing they do wrong, is try to install the Steam folder directly to an external drive. If you leave everything default, test it working that way one time, and then move the Steam library it is almost idiot proof.

Then they try using symbolic links in Terminal. #2 most popular mistake. Use an Alias to redirect to external and it is even Windows user proof.
