Anyone got any good sources for Windows icons?

    I want to assign some icons to folder and drives to make it easier to visually differentiate things in my system to help speed things up. Anyone know of or got any good sources for icons or recommended icon sets?

    Windows already has a lot of nice icons! Folder -- Properties -- Customize --> Other Icon

    use proper naming instead! - because it's much faster to sort folders alphabetically and jump into files/folders by typing character(s) on a keyboard

    this is something i've been looking for myself. 10 years ago there used to be so many cool icon packs, like https://dryicons.com/ but now most of them disappeared.

    you can check out part of my personal collection, or find old icon packs at rutracker. but i still haven't found a good source for new icons. :sad:

    I have no caps lock light or no indicator on laptop.I don't want third party software! Iv'e tryed the screen keyboard, which caps lock lights up but don't need the whole keyboard on screen, i just need an indicator on task bar icon on/off. Any other windows settings to try?

    Modification of the Caps Lock key It is possible to assign the key to another function, e.g. as an Escape key.

    GIMP can save photos as *.ico files, which can then be assigned to a folder.
    In GIMP just go to export and type *.ico as the end of the file.

    I normally find what I want here:- Windows\system32\pifmgr.dll



    If you type files similar to pifmgr into Google, it comes up with shell32. dll, imageres. dll, compstui. dll, and moricons also, although I have yet to try any of those.

    As Saint said above, the customization scene is not what it use to be. It reached its peak with Win 7 and has been going down ever since. There are only a handful modders carrying the legacy.

    I always make them myself. Today I mainly use them for my streamdeck.
    A good solution for that is iconworkshop. You can get it for free or legit: https://axialis.com/iconworkshop/
    Make your own icons or pull them from the apps you use.

    OK, it's only ~ 9 Million but it'll do the job for the next few weeks I hope :dunno:
