I'm using Keka to join the segments but can't remember how to change the numbering scheme of the segments.
For example:
Software.zip
Software.z01
Software.z02
Software.z03

I remember having to change the extention to something like .001
What do I do, I keep forgetting.
This time I'll write my own personal instructions.

Never worked for me. It always fails.
There was a trick I did by converting to .001, .002, .003 & so forth.

 

Use Betterzip or Keka, start with .001 and it will unzip fine. The confusing part is that the .zip is the last parts of the files and not the first..

 

Well it worked by changing all segments from .z01 to .001 and removing .zip and changing it to the last segment in order to .004.
The thing is it made four different outputs of the file.

You don't need a special program to unpack a compressed ZIP file on a Mac.

- If you have loaded a ZIP file on your Mac, navigate to the file's storage location in Finder.
- Double-click the ZIP file with the left mouse button
- This unpacks the ZIP file and immediately packs the contents into a newly created folder.
- You can now open this folder like any other folder on your Mac and edit the contents.

 

Didn't work for me. The process always fails when trying to open just the .zip file.

 

Now that worked for me on the AudioModern Cosmo expansion. However it converted it without having to use the password in Keka.
It also worked without using Keka. All I did was double click on the .zip.001 segment & it decompressed the entire file.

I really don't care about having to learn a new system because nothing stays the same, EVERYTHING much change, for that's the way of time.

But I truly appreciate MORiA's work for the Mac community in fact all the teams get a big nod from me because without them we would not be here and my broke ass would be forced to spend money on many products that I would end up never using or just simply were a major piece of crap!
I truly live by the "Try Before You Buy" format.

im sorry, but its really not that difficult. right click on the .zip file, open with keka, enter password, done.

 

I'm using BetterZip for many years now, works fine, no renaming needed.

 

Please stop copying and pasting things you have no clue about. Apples built in Archive Utility can't handle these split archives.

 

Some of the very oldschool teams create a multi-rar archive, and then put those split files into zip files. You extract each zip separately, take the rar file and move them from the individual folders created by the zips up one directory so that all the rar files are in the main folder together. Then you extract the .rar extension file and it extracts all the other rar archives with it.

But that is old Teams like BTCR and CORE. That was primarily due to size limits on Usenet newsgroup posts and 3.5 physical disks. Some "scene rules" like those, are adhered to way longer than makes sense. You never had to change the file extensions either way.

Sometimes, just when you thought you had seen it all; you get a reminder like this you haven't. But to negatively downvote the comment of the releaser? wow. I'm going to go hack my way into my email and try to forget I ever saw this.

 

Like I said, not working. Zip file gives a 'failed' message, z01 file asks for password but Keka starts shaking without accepting it. So yes, it's that difficult and I totally understand why BiG Pluck started this thread.

 

Not a big deal. I had a problem once but quickly figured out. It's just a simple renaming. When you download using both options (rapidgator and katfile) there is a slight naming difference. For example new software.r01 and the other one is new_software.r02 . so you only have to remove underscore from those having it or add underscore to the others as well. Then Keka will recognise everything

 

WOW! I truly remember those days. Such simpler times. But.... Not today.

That explanation has already be given & doesn't work on the new MORiA segments.
But thanx for your input.

 

It does work, both on my newer M2 and an older intel model. Maybe try updating keka or something. Are you sure you are clicking .zip, and not the one that is zip01

 

Some older Teams still do this stuff. A few others still do that rar inside a rar Matryoshka doll thing where you need 2x the disk space to extract whatever files. Some people have old automator scripts for it, and some just keep doing the same things for standardization reasons. It's probably why every samples release still has a demo.mp3 and artwork spam included. Such a waste of bandwidth.

Try using BetterZip5 if you want a different archiver tool. It can store decryption passwords and all that other good stuff.

I don't remember anyone called Snapcase, besides the band. They were on Victory Records with all their V auto wreckers shirts. lol.
