One thing that does my bonce in about WIndows is the constant prompt by the UAC to verify anything I do when installing stuff. Is there any way to disable or bypass the prompt without having to turn the UAC security level slider dowanrds to "Never notify me"?

If not, any potential issues with downgrading to "Never notify me"?

In practical usage, you risk nothing.

I disable UAC on EVERY computer I work on. This also goes for friends and family who are not tech savvy, and there has never been an issue.

This is even more true if you also have a good anti-virus running, or Defender (which I also hate, and disable). UAC stops programs from running that you didn't intend to run, but its more of an annoyance than anything useful. The best malware/viruses would bypass UAC detection anyway, so if your concerned about malware a good AV should be enough.

Disable it, your digital life improve greatly.

No. Just disable it completely. The entire UAC code segment is just bloatware.

There are two registry edits you should search for on your search engine of preference
    1. Completely disabling it - making a note if you change your mind where you changed it and what, and,
    2. Disabling it for a specific program/application only - same note as above

There are plenty out there, both Microsoft official and others as good and more comprehensive.
If you have malware detection on realtime, disabling UAC is fine if you might be concerned about ransomware etc...

No, there are no problems, just turn the slider all the way down and you'll have peace!

Every fresh install (Every 6-10 months), I disable UAC as my first move. It's in the way.

Asking me if I wanna open a program I'm actively trying to open is...(sigh)...just disable it.

I always disabled UAC since it was introduced way back in Windows 7. I think it's annoying, but the reason why it exists is legitimate. If you know what you are doing with your computer, then it's really your rules. There's no risk, since infection is initiated by the user, so it's a component that won't get you hacked by simply having it disabled; but having it on might be your saving grace if you realize you fucked up by the time you double-clicked it.

for w10 group policy editor gpedit.msc is enough, for w11 you may have to remove defender completely or it may reenable itself occasionally

Keep in mind that if you turn win update loose on your secured machine it will make attempts to un-do all your work.

Depends if by permanently you mean completely unable to restore it under any circumstances, or just make it go away.

If you want it gone forever this should assist - the microsoft way is also included.

It's been more than 12 years, if not more, that I ran my PC's without UAC. It If you know where you’re going, you're all good.

UAC is just Microcraps bs attempt to stop you from visiting the sister. Be smart and you'll be fine without it. I have not had it active since I figured out how to disable it permently 2012, and never had any issues what-so-ever.
    Peace

Disable it, that joke of an AV, and that bitch Cortena. Your daw will love you for it. All that crap is just ol Bills way of keeping the sheep sucking on his fat teat. I would switch to Linux myself if I wasn't too old and tired to learn a new os and developers would stop kowtowing to crapple and microshit. Learn, don't be a fuking lemming.....
    Good luck.

Not true. MS "updates" can, and will reactivate it in some circumstances. Do some research there are tools out there to remove this "helpful" stuff completely I will not elaborate on so I don't offend any rules in place about that kind of stuff.
    Google is your friend here........peace

Dudes just living with the bare minimum, or maybe it's really a fetish... I've been running the same Windows installation since the release of Windows 8 (yes, not 8.1). Went through multiple upgrades (holding on to Windows 10 still tho) and multiple storage transplants, but still works as good as fresh. People vastly underestimate how good Windows got at running nice, they crap on their system and blame the OS for it...

defender is sufficient as an AV, it's not worth the effort to bother with other things

i have it disabled since MS has introduced it, its super annoying, if you install things or if you change settings often on your computer or if i try programs - you know the origin of.

If you disable it, always think twice or even more before doing something.
Even more careful if you are using an Admin account on your machine.
