Can owners of Toontrack Superior Drummer 3 load a friend's SDX kit to try out? Or is each bank (EZX and SDX) tied/protected to only load with specific authorization beyond the main software's authorization?

 

VR's crack will load any legit library compatible with its current version. Otherwise, no. R2R used keygens for every lib and they dropped support years ago. Legit version can't load anything unauthorized (for obvious reasons.)

 

If you mean kits saved as projects or presets, yes. As long as you have the same library installed, they will load as saved. For complete libraries (EZX/SDX) you will need the latest CE (V.R.) updates for trouble free operation.

If you are using a legit version, you will need to authorize if it a full library (not a SD3 project or preset).
