Hi everyone,

A friend mentioned he downloaded the HCiSO Kontakt 8 along with a large, comprehensive library, but he’s having some issues getting it to run properly on a Mac. The download didn’t include a readme or clear setup instructions, though it did come with scripts and a file listing various serials (none of which seemed to work with Native Instruments).

When I load the files into Kontakt 8, they don’t show the usual banner; instead, I just see a folder with all the instruments inside. I can listen to samples when I click on them individually, but when I double-click to load them, one of three things usually happens: the instrument either fails to load, loads in “demo” mode, or loads without any sound. Occasionally, I also get an authorization message for the instrument.

Since I’m able to preview the samples, I feel like I’m close to getting it to work, but I can’t seem to figure out the final steps.

Has anyone managed to run a cracked Kontakt 8 library on Mac without these issues? Any advice on how to get past this would be much appreciated!

Lots of Kontakt issues for me running Sonoma. Most libraries are either not showing up, not displaying correctly and/or not playing previews. The "Classic View" works fine, but the advanced views are a sea of blank folders. Ive downloaded the official Previews via NA and deleted the Db files. Ive deleted all XML files and reimported all libraries. Ive deleted all files in the Shared folder related to NI and reinstalled - nada.

 

had similar issues on sonoma - I run Kontakt 7 parallel for any library not showing up in 8.

 

I'm having problems with not all my libraries showing in the browser. They do show in Kontakt 7 but not Kontakt 8.
Also I have my library on an external Sandisk Digital Drive.
I'm using the latest versions of Kontakt Library Utility & Add Library for MacOS v4.
I'm thinking maybe I need to do a clean install. What all do I need to remove in Mac OS Sequoia 15 MacBook Pro M1

 

Yeah thanks, that’s probably not a bad idea to try. Although, I still anticipate the libraries not loading. I’ll give it a go for sure though and let you guys all know once the lengthy downloads have finished.

Ok I can see I’m clearly not the only one dealing with these frustrating issues.

remaining hopeful that someone can provide a fix.

Otherwise I made trawl through the forum search to see if I can successfully setup kontakt 7 with proper libraries. That might serve me well in the meantime and I can see that quite a few people have had success with it.

Bobdule has Kontakt v8.01 (I assume v8.10 is coming) for apple why not use that instead? Never have any issues with BobbyD Kontakt versions on PC anyway, maybe the apple version could help your situations in getting to version 8.

BobD does apple as well. The BD apple versions may/not be on sisite but they are on official bobbyD site. There's only v8.01 for apple currently but I'm betting v8.10 is coming soon

 

Im not so sure that that is the answer. Im running 8.10 (not B.D) on a Mac Studio M2 Ultra, Sonoma 14.5 and the issues remain the same. The same issues apply to Komplete Kontrol 3.3.3 and there seems to be some grumbling about this on the official NI website.
The issues seem to be similar but not necessarily identical and dont appear to be library dependant.
NI being one of the most glacial companies on Planet Earth mean that we may not see this issue sorted within the next millenium.

 

It felt like they rushed out v7, and probably because they had many problems with the v6.x last versions. Now they have likely rushed through v7 to get to v8. If you guys are having problems just updating to the newest version, it should probably hint at the effort it will take the third-party utility creators to update their tools. Rushing into an update of something that is critical to your workflow is never the best idea.

 

Generally Id agree with you. However, Sonoma is hardly new and this issue dates back to Kontakt 7 - its not exclusive to 8. KK 3.3.3 was supposed to repair the Mac issues regarding images and previews...but it hasnt.

 

Yep you may be completely correct. BD was just a suggestion to maybe get your v8 going.

Agreed that this whole fervor of updating with Kontakt, from v6 and now all the way to version 8 is a bit ridiculous and seems more like NI shooting themselves in the head making it practically impossible for folks to keep up with it all. Every other week there's a new update to Kontakt. And while it is prudent to err on the side of caution with regard to the massive update schedule, at the end of the day it's all really going to come down simply to how much one actually needs to update anything at all. If there are libraries you need that will only run on v8.0, 8.01, or 8.10 then that should be the motivating force for updating. Otherwise, if you have a working setup currently (not version 8) maybe just stick with it until a fix appears...
