Hi everyone,

I’m having a major issue with Omnisphere on my iMac 2023 (M3, macOS Sonoma 14.4). Every time I try to load any patch, I get the “Error Loading Waveform” message, and it happens with all patches, making the plugin unusable both in my DAW and standalone.

Specs:

• Omnisphere: Software 2.8.6arm, Soundsources 2.6.2, Patches 2.8.2

• DAW: Ableton Live 11 Suite (latest version)

• System: iMac 2023 (M3, macOS Sonoma 14.4)

• Standalone: Same issue outside of DAW

What I’ve tried:

1. Full reinstallation (MORIA version).

2. Checked file paths for waveforms and patches.

3. Checked folder permissions.

4. Tried in other DAWs (Logic Pro) — same issue.

5. Deleted the Zmap file — no luck.

6. Tried different versions/updates, but I might have the wrong link.

I’ve spent over 10 hours trying to fix this, and I’m out of ideas. If anyone has advice or is experiencing the same issue, I’d really appreciate any help!

Where is the screenshot you took from, the white background page?

Did you codesign the plugins and application? I don't see you mentioning that.

Open Omnisphere, at the main GUI, click the Spectrasonics logo (colorful Triangle) so you are back at the splash screen. Hit Diagnostics button and screenshot that.

I haven’t codesigned the plugins or the application.

The screenshot I took is from the page that appears when you click “Get Updates” in the main GUI.

As requested, here are the screenshots from the Diagnostics page in Omnisphere.

Ok, so you see it says "Factory Soundsources: 13". There is your problem, because the plugin does not see your Soundsources. Should be 4,911 sound sources. The other numbers are pretty much correct.

Do you really keep your Steam folder on your local disk?

 

Thanks for the help. My STEAM folder is on my internal hard drive at this path:

Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Spectrasonics > Omnisphere > STEAM

For me, Omnisphere has correctly detected the location of the STEAM folder, and I’m not getting any error messages when launching the plugin. The only issue I’m facing is the “Error Loading Waveform” problem.

Also, after checking the diagnostics, it seems like Omnisphere is not detecting the Moog Tribute Library, which should normally appear there, right?

I’ve attached two new screenshots. Let me know if you see anything wrong or need something else.

Your "STEAM" folder is too small, have you really installed Omnisphere 2 completely?

It seems like a permissions issue where the plugin does not have access to the folder that has the soundsource data. So the number of factory soundsources is too small. Then it can't calculate them right because the plugin can't see the files it needs to.


Do you see in the bottom left corner, I think you applied BatChmod to all the top folders. But not the files inside the folders. They are either changed what you changed them to, or they are default.

You have 4 radio boxes in the Options section of BatChmod. Check all of them, except for ACL's. The bottom left one is always left blank, the rest checked off.

Then bottom left, click "inclus?" so that all contents of the folders you want to Batchmod have those permissions applied too. Then close the plugin, remove from channel strip, reload. it and re-check.

STEP 1.
Unzip STEAM parts 1-15 using Keka and extract the ISO wherever you like.

STEP 2(a)
Mount (open) the ISO image and drag the Spectrasonics folder from inside the ISO to wherever you want it to live. This can be an external drive, but for convenience use the default location "~/Library/Application Support/Spectrasonics/STEAM"
STEP 2(b)

Use the application "BatChmod" to give write permission to your newly created Spectrasonics folder and all subfolders/files.
STEP 3 (optional)
Create an alias to the Spectrasonics Folder which should be placed at the location in STEP 2. if you have not placed the actual Spectrasonics folder there.

STEP 4
No step 4 on MacOS.

STEP 5
Unzip Step 5 archive (do not change the folder hierarchy!) and double-click the .pkg installer file. You will need an admin password to install, as usual. DO NOT start Omnisphere yet.

STEP 6(a)
1. Unzip Step 6 archive and run Keygen App.
2. Move the VST and AU plugins from "Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/(Components/VST)" to a new folder with write access.
3. PATCH the all the Omnisphere VST and AU plugins. Patch means click the "Patch" button in the keygen and direct it to the plugins; a dialog will open requiring you to point to the plugin you want to patch. The Keygen App will see the Mac plugin as just another folder. What you need to patch is inside the plugin; "plugin(seen as a folder)/Contents/MacOS/Omnisphere".
4. Move the plugins back into their respective folders; "Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/(Components/VST)".

STEP 6(b)
Run Omnisphere in the Applications folder. It may take a while to load the first time. Do not panic. Be patient, after a while the Omnisphere registration window will open and provide you with a Challenge Code.

STEP 6(c)
Copy and paste (using right-click!) the Challenge Code into the Keygen's Challenge Code window.

STEP 6(d)
Press the GENERATE button and copy the generated Response Code. You can right-click and choose "Copy" if you're doing this in the keygen on the Mac. It will copy to the Mac clipboard.

STEP 6(e)
Paste the copied Response Code into the Omnisphere's Response Code Line by pressing the Paste tab. After this operation the key generator is no longer is needed.

STEP 6(f)
Press the Continue tab and when the next window appears, quit the Omnisphere application.

STEP 7
Unzip Step 7 archive (do not change the folder hierarchy!) and run the Omnisphere 2 Data Updater.pkg (Soundsource update) in the Mac folder. Your admin password will be required.

STEP 8
Unzip Step 8 archive (do not change the folder hierarchy!) and run the Omnisphere Data Updater.pkg (Patch library update) in the Mac folder. Your admin password will be required.

STEP 9
Unzip Step 9 archive (do not change the folder hierarchy!) and run Bob Moog Tribute Patch Library.pkg (Bob.Moog.Tribute.Patch.Library.Update) in the Mac folder. Your admin password will be required.

STEP 10
Run Omnisphere. You should be good to go...
N.B. Software updates kill the crack, so yo have to go through step 6 again after an update.

believe I have installed Omnisphere 2 completely. I initially used The Pirate version for the installation. Here’s a screenshot showing the size of the Omnisphere folder.

I had already clicked “inclus” yesterday, but I forgot to mention it in my screenshots. It’s strange, but even after that, it still didn’t work.

 

I just noticed that when I click on a preset, I get the notification “Waveform Error” followed by a second message:

“Cannot load SoundSource ‘Drying Rack Dyn Overtones 3 ^’ from Directory ‘Core Library’. File Drying Rack Dyn Overtones 3 ^.zmap may be missing or corrupted. Try refreshing the SoundSource Browser.”

You can't give a guarantee for other teams, maybe it's because the other teams didn't do their job properly.

It shouldn't actually take 10 hours, it should work straight away.

 

Ah the enlightenment...

If the refresh does not work, delete the the corresponding soundset manually and reinstall it!
If the error still occurs, the soundset is probably faulty!

Thank you very much for your response! How can I uninstall the Omnisphere updates I’ve already installed?

I have another question:
If I delete everything and start from scratch (removing both the “Omnisphere application” and the “STEAM” folder). Can I then reinstall the “THE PIRATE” version, followed by the update with MORIA v2.8.6c U2B Mac and the patch library 2.8.1c? Will that work? Or do I need to download all the updates that have been released since the original “THE PIRATE” torrent?

 

When I click on a preset and get the error messages, I’ve already tried clicking “refresh” as suggested in several posts on the Audiosex forum, but it doesn’t do anything. What do you mean by reinstalling the soundsets? Does that mean I need to download the “THE PIRATE” torrent again and copy it back into the STEAM folder?

 

Hello DJAxelP, well, if a file or preset is faulty you delete it if possible. Unfortunately I am a Windows user and therefore cannot describe exactly if and which un-installer you have.

Sometimes it is simple spelling mistakes when programming, for example dots or umlauts like Ä Ö Ü that cause errors, it can also be that an error occurs during torrent download and a file is damaged. I would leave the STEAM folder as it is and uninstall the “software” first and then only reinstall the software and patch Libary updates from MORIA.

If errors continue to occur, it is advisable to uninstall everything - restart the mac and reinstall everything again.

 

Ok, I’ll give that a try tomorrow, but in the meantime, I’ll wait to see if anyone else suggests other solutions or steps I can take before going through with it. Many thanks for your assistance, Radio!

 

You only need to install the latest software “ Update ‘ v2.8.5c (i.e. Setup.exe), for the ’ Soundsources and Patches ” you should install all released ones. Please only MORIA and R2R!!!

I have read it again - if PIRAT has done everything right you don't need to do any patch & soundsources updates anymore, but it is possible that the error occurs again... I would just install older patch & library updates over it, maybe this will overwrite and/or fix the error...

INSTRUCTIONS
1. It is recommended to place the Spectrasonics folder from the distribution in the root of the disk (for example, D:, E:, etc.).
The Russian language and also other languages, unlike English, are unacceptable to use!
You don't need to do this: D:\Synthesizers\Spectrasonics, E:\Music Software\Spectrasonics, etc.
2. Download and install Omnisphere
3. Run Omnisphere as an administrator and point it to the STEAM folder. In all the notifications that appear next, click OK. Restart Omnisphere after the last notification
