This is a unique occasion to maybe try new things, walk unexplored horizons, but also eventually do what you already know and can do. In fact, it’s totally up to you.

Bassifondi, that's incredible. It's like watching a collar camera on a kitty on her nightly neighborhood escapade and walkabout! Your piece is so very visual and see it all before me.

 

@Bassifondi that cat surely has the biggest fangs and the sharpest claws !!! Very cool !!!

 

The Spaced Out Cat (inspired by the artwork and by Inca, a precious little cat belonging to one of my good friends. Inca often dreams of being the first catronaut in outer space!)

The theramin melodies in the intro are played on an instrument created by audiosex member @0on3 and are meant to be reminiscent of a cat's meow. The artwork, to me, looked like the cat was floating in space watching the stars and constellations, hence the feel of the track.

The cat sat on the mat, Dreaming stars in endless flight, Chasing comets in the sky, In cosmic dreams floating free, Paws touch planets, Tail swirl slow, Purring in the cosmic wave.

@Bassifondi : yo you wasted no time. its so abstract and free and changes in form much like the creature in the image and very fluidly - some mighty morphin psychedelic electronica, had to listen to it a few times to get a good grasp of it. i like this mix too, nice job

@Aidene : theramin always reminds me of halloween, thought it was gonna be something spooky but then it falls into these serene waters. your voice also sounds pretty good on this one, with interesting layers. idk if thats like suppose to be a saxophone; sounds good though and adds to the smoothness and this mix as well is very smooth. comfy stuff, i like being comfy

@Lois Lane @Aidene @Grape Ape Thanks for you nice comments. with this track instead of my usual and mostly failed techniques whenever I had an idea I followed it which lead to the changes.

 

@Bassifondi that is one grown ass kitty we've got there ! Feels like its facing an oliphant at some point even. Great use of some oriental sounds and i really like the creative ways to go from one point to another in the track, it makes it more fluid ! And special mention for the end percussions . You should continue following up with your ideas this way, you'll most likely end up developping your own new technics !

@Aidene you never fail to amaze me.. track after track... Out of everything i could listen up until now, this is maybe the most balanced. It sounds so good. Your voice, the sax, the sub, the notes details, very spacious.. all together it makes such a sweet vibrating embrace carring to the ends of the universe. It's distantly warm. Got it blasted in the house, again, this was an experience.
I don't know much about the theramin but absolutely loved your instrument Oon3 ! Another small part making in the big picture. Thank you

 

@aschnt Thanks for your encouraging words. I used to spend too much time mixing unfinished parts. this time after composing a part I used my gut feeling to decide where to go, what was needed, then I went back to fix the errors. instead of spending time pre-mixing I did the track no fx no real mixing. I'll keep with this method. Thank you all, this non contest has given me a lot of energy. since the lockdowns I haven't done any live shows or really anything. You guys are great.

 

As a lurker, this has been one of my favourite non-contests..

I feel you. Lockdown took quite a toll on most of us.. That's the whole point of all this brother, having fun while letting ourselves go to some artistic direction. Personally i like seeing this as going to the gym, we may all have our own reasons going to it but we all have something to gain from it. And gym buddies don't let each other down.
