since i read a lot of popular vpn's aren't exactly private.

i also know of people using seedboxes for private use, and mention of real debrid...

what's the best way?

 

mullvad lets you pay with bitcoin, has only 1 price, works well
Protionvpn is very privacy focused

all the big ones work really well but dont have good reputation privacy wise
pia,nord etc

ah thank you, that's the only one i found that seems to be okay.

do you know anything about all debrid?

i saw someone say they use that and jdownloader, as all debrid gives you access to premium links, so you don't have to wait ages when downloading free... or something like that.

JDownloader is just a downloader, it doesn't give you any premium features for free. But it's a damn good downloader.

That said, Mullvad or ProtonVPN. Slightly different feature sets but so far both have been proven solid providers.

 

Only asked as the post i saw on reddit basically said:

so should you be using that with a vpn, if not going the seedbox route

 

Well, Alldebrid works that way, you get fast direct download links for stuff hosted on (most) filehosters. You can either download them yourself with your browser or stick them into JDownloader for queueing.

So the Reddit comment is correct, I've used it this way.

Better is relative of course

If the stuff that you want is available as direct downloads (DDLs in the lingo) then Alldebrid is great bang for the buck, just go for a permanent sub instead of pay monthly. You get to cancel anytime no problems, I've done this several times with no issues and you get it for cheap. And yes I'm a cheap bastard so that's for me.

VPNs are solid for bypassing region locks and torrenting. ProtonVPN is good here as it offers port forwarding. You get a lot of stuff this way that you wouldn't get with DDLs (ah, US talk shows, I need my fix), but otherwise there's no need if you find it for direct DL. Alldebrid does offer a torrent download option, so try that first though.

Seedboxes are for hard-core torrenters, people who need to maintain ration in private trackers. You do get best film rips etc that way fastest, but it requires dedication.

Most of the time a seedbox is overkill.

My advice is to try out Alldebrid, if it works out fine then there's no need to go further.

Oh, and I'd still recommend JDownloader in combination with Alldebrid (or other *debrids), but you can start without and add it later on.

 

yeah i lost ratio on AN... not really sure on their dontation thing, as it's crypto and i have no idea, so really only looking at AZ.

do you bother with using crypto for payment for it all?

Crypto, no. No benefit for security at all. But if you're so inclined Mullvad actually accepts cash.

Alldebrid works straight off the browser so test that first. Then add account details to JDownloader (It's in settings > Account Manager), try that next. That's all there is to it for Alldebrid.

If you're going down the VPN route , then bind your torrent client to the VPN interface (in qBittorrent for instance it's in Options > Advanced > Network Interface), additionally add the forwarded port from the VPN client to the torrent software (qB again it's Options > Connection > Port used for incoming connections)

Qbit is safe. It's open source, so nothing is hidden about it's code behavior.

for sister site =ss, a debrid+jd is perfectly fine
sites like reddit like debrid+torrent to manly watch movies
if torrentsites like an (privat)etc. are your thing then debrids will kill your ratios

for ss just one of the providers like rg is fine too, debrids might/are cheaper
although happens rarely, they could also suffer from service problems every now and then

 

I just started using my smartphone to download. it works great. I can even do torrents with it.

i’m struggling to get how all debrid and jdownloader work.

i set it up with your advice, and i should have premium, but on jdownloader it just keeps trying to get me to do captchas and buy rapidgator premium, any idea what i’m missing?
